Candidate Information: District 4, Horry County Council Michael L. Ryan (R)
Incumbent. High School Assistant Principal since 1996. Retired from the U.S. Army in 1995 as a field grade officer. Assignments included: J. F. Kennedy Warfare Center, 82nd Airborne Division, 197th Infantry Brigade, 8th Infantry Division and 3rd Armored Division. Awards Included: Meritorious Service Medal (5 awards), Army Commendation Medal (2 awards), Army Achievement Medal (3 awards), Humanitarian Service Medal (Cuban Refugees - 1980), Master Parachutist, Air Assault, Expert Infantry Badge. B.A., History, University of North Carolina. M.A., Human Relations, Webster University. Ed.S., Educational Administration, University of Missouri. Since his election to the Horry County Council in 2000, Mr. Ryan has invariably voted for the interests of homeowners, communities, and taxpayers. Nick Bucholtz (D)
Teaches High School at Coastal Christian Academy on Burcale Road in Myrtle Beach. Formerly substitute teacher in Horry County schools. College football coach: University of Louisiana 1990-2000, University of Louisiana at Lafayette.2001-2002. Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Attends Myrtle Beach Community Church. Holds a BA from Louisiana State University in speech and communication.
