subject: Fei Sunzi
date of interview: February 8, 2004

[Dr. O] Tell me about Dances' death. Did you kill him?

[Fei Sunzi] With assistance, but Dances was sent back through the Great Wheel.

[O] If that is true, aren't you afraid that he will come back, perhaps to exact revenge?

[FSz] Afraid? No. If the Great Wheel deems to return him with the purpose and strength to kill me, then perhaps it would mean that I misjudged.

[O] So you have no remorse for his death?

[FSz] I must admit some satisfaction when he died. My ego was emboldened at orchestrating the end of such a dangerous individual. It gave me a sense of power.

[O] So you would kill again?

[FSz] If need be.

[O] Let's go back to Brynn. You mentioned the "Red Sign", a book of some importance.

[FSz] If the "Red Sign" did indeed have the knowledge to return the humanity to all vampires, then perhaps that is what Senex meant in summoning Xuanciel. All vampires, cursed with unlife, torn from the Great Wheel, would be given another chance. A reincarnation of sorts. They could take what they learned from their undead existence and integrate that knowledge back to the Wheel. Perhaps they were the missing component, the broken piece in need of repair.

[O] You called the...asura...Xuanciel, not Angelo.

[FSz] Dances had decayed the body, Angelo, letting loose the asura. Rather than reincarnate, however, he possessed the body of Nicholas, carrying the soul of Sarah with him.

[O] You think the asura should have died then?

[FSz] I think his karma is contantly trying to remind him of his past mistakes, though he has not yet admitted, or acknowledged what mistakes those may be. Whether or not he can or will, only time will tell.

[O] Why did the asura deserve another chance?

[FSz] Because his will is strong and he obviously needs to understand what happened to him. In this way, he has the potential for self-reflection and self-improvement, unlike Dances with Blood.

[O] So how did it all end?

[FSz] Nicholas provided an ingenius circle that solidified probability, hindering everyone, Dances and myself included, from manipulating Fate. In this manner, he leveled the playing field. With Int's help, we managed to surprise the assassin, and Brynn ended his life.

[O] And what of Brynn?

[FSz] That is where the mystery deepens. Another being, much too quick for the naked eye, assaulted her. Though she survived the attack, she retreated into the earth to regenerate, as some vampires can do. For whatever reasons, it left us unharmed. I can only speculate that this being wishes to prevent Brynn from acquiring the "Red Sign."

[O] Assassins. Conspiracies. And mysteries. That would sound very terrifying.

[FSz] My training as an interrogator in the Party required...proficiency in handling such unknowns. Of course with the sole purpose of revealing those unknowns.
