    1. The Society shall be called Bradford University Roleplaying Society   (BURPS), hereafter the Society.

    2.  Aims and objectives

    2.1 The Society aims to provide regular roleplaying facilities consisting of a room with moveable tables and chairs where the membership may meet and roleplay.

    2.2 The Society aims to maintain a mailing list for the use of the membership and for the purpose of maintaining communications within the Society.

    2.3 The Society aims to hold a sponsored event for a designated charity every year.

    3. The officers of the Society shall be President, VIce President, Secretary and Treasurer.

    3.1 President

    Shall be chairperson at General Meetings and committee meetings of the Society and shall regulate the day-to-day running of the Society

    3.2 Vice President

    Shall deputise for the President. Should be able to carry out his or her duties.

    3.3 Secretary

    Shall keep an adequate record of preceeding of the Society, to include records of General Meetings and committee meetings.

    Shall regulate the day-to-day running of the Society.

    Shall convene General Meetings and committee meetings.

    3.4 Treasurer

     Shall keep an up to date record of the financial state of the Society.

    Shall be directly responsible to the Union Treasurer for the financial transactions of the Society.

    Shall work within the financial regulations of the University or Union.

    4. Affairs of the Society shall be governed by a committee consisting of four officers and at least three members of the membership.

    5. The committee shall be elected annually. The committee shall be elected by General Meeting using a simple majority vote. A minimum of seven days notice must be given for this General Meeting.

    6. The committee may at its dicretion co-opt any member of the Society for any period. This person shall become a non-voting member of the committee. All paid-up members can observe at committee meetings.

    7. It shall be the duty of the committee to present each year to the Union Treasurer, an estimated budget for the following year. A short report on the Society activites for the current year should accompany this and should be presented to Union Council if necessary.

    8. It shall be the duty of the committee each year, via the Secretary, to lodge names, addresses and telephone numbers, where applicable, both in term and vacation, of the officers with the Treasurer and Sports and Societies Officer of the University of Bradford Union.

    9. Standing orders for procedure shall be those laid down in the University of Bradford Union, except where they may conflict with this constitution.

    10. General Meeting

    Shall be publicised at least four working days before they are to take place, except for General Meeting containing the election of the Society officers as stated in the constitution.

    Shall have a quorum of at least 15% of the current membership.

    Shall be the overall governing body of the Society.

    The General Meeting shall elect the committee annually, as described earlier in this constitution.

    11. Committee Meetings

    The quorum for the committee meetings shall be four voting members of the Society

    12. Constitution

    The constitution may only be amended by Union Council, either at it’s discretition or from a recommendation from two-thirds majority of a properly constituted General Meeting of the Society.

    Periodicals and Publications

    Where any periodical or publication is published by the Society, it shall be the duty of the committee to ensure the following:

    a. That the periodical or publication concerned shall have an editorial board of at least three members, comprising an editor and two others.

    b. That the names and addresses for the members of the Editorial Board are lodged with the Treasurer and Sports and Societies Officer of the University of Bradford Union, and that the names shall not be disclosed, except with prior agreement of members or in the case of legal action to the proper legal authorities, at the discretion of the Union President.

    c. The one copy of each issue is given to the Deputy President of the University of Bradford Union.

    No libellous, defamatory or obscene matter shall be published in any such periodical or publication. Should any such matter be published, the committee will be asked to give an explanation. If this explanation is unsatisfactory the matter will be taken to Union Council, who will decide on the action to be taken.

    Ammendments

    a. Each year the Society will nominate and elect a Life Member. Such a member will be entitled to a waived membership fee and be welcome to attend all Society events. In general such a member should be someone who has contributed to the running or maintainance of the Society or who has given time to achieve Society goals.
