More 3D Perscription Eyewear
Topic: 3D Eyewear
"One of the biggest problems with current 3D implementations is that they require viewers to wear glasses, something most people don't really have an issue with, but there's one special category that isn't able to fully enjoy these modern entertainment offerings, and we're talking here about the prescription glasses wearers," so writes Softpedia. "In fact, in their cases, the overall 3D experience effect is not always the best-possible one (in fact, some prescription glasses wearers complain about a so-called “six-eye” effect), and for this reason, Samsung, one of the most serious supporters of the whole 3D concept, will be offering its customers the possibility to get prescription 3D glasses."

3D Eyewear in the News
Topic: 3D Eyewear

ThomasNet reports that Microtips Technology is capable of producing 3D active shutter lenses for $3-4. Lens specs are available at the site.

"Starting January, Marchon3D will offer a wide range of sunglasses that incorporate the circular polarizing technology used in 3-D movie theaters that feature the RealD system," says a blog in the New York Times The story continues: "The company will sell its less-expensive line in movie theaters for about $35. ...[T]he glasses can be worn anywhere and will block 100 percent of UVA and UVB light, [but] they will not block bright light."

[T]he company will also offer photochromic 3-D glasses under the M3D name, at prices ranging from $99 to $12, which will be sold at optical shops.

A few weeks ago, Polaroid Eyewear announced a collection of Real ID 3D glasses that "will feature a wide range of "appealing designs," in addition to (finally!) a prescription lens option," according to TGDaily.

The HomeTheater section from About.com reports that XpanD has introduced  "Universal 3D Glasses that can work on most currently available 3D TVs that use the Active Shutter system." For more details, check out...XpanD Universal 3D Glasses product page."
