Chapter 9

Luke, Nikolas and Lucky had finished filling up the boxes and were about to load up the truck Luke had borrowed when someone knocked loudly at Alexis' door.

Luke opened the door and had only a moment to recognise the angry knocker as Sonny before something hard connected with his jaw, it was the angry knocker's fist. Lucky and Nikolas both rushed forward but Luke regained his wits quickly and soon punched Sonny back. This of course brought Johnny into the mix. However he was stopped from any action by Sonny as the boys were by Luke.

"Boys why don't you take these boxes to the truck, Sonny and I apparently need to have a little talk." Luke instructed. The young men reluctantly began to leave.

"Um Johnny why don't you give them a hand, we're fine here." Sonny added.

"Are you sure?" Johnny asked not certain he should leave the two men alone together.

"Yeah."

Having no other choice, Johnny picked up a few boxes and followed Nikolas and Lucky out.

"What the hell do you have on Alexis?" Sonny demanded when the other guys left.

"A lot of fun?"

Before Luke could even grin Sonny had again punched him, this time with even more force. Shrugging Luke punched Sonny again, figuring he might as well.

"There is no way Alexis would marry you unless you forced her, so what is it, are you blackmailing her, threatening her?" Sonny demanded

"First of all no one forces Alexis to do anything. Secondly our marriage is none of your business."

"Alexis is my business." Sonny assured him.

"Because she used to work for you? I thought the two of you weren't even on speaking terms?"

"We're not... I mean she hates me but..."

"You don't hate her?"

"What?"

"It's a simple question." Luke told him, enjoying watching Sonny squirm.

"Of course I don't hate her. Did she tell you I did?"

"Believe it or not my wife and I have never discussed you.

"Luke quit the games and tell me why Alexis married you." Sonny demanded angered by hearing Luke refer to Alexis as his wife. He knew Alexis wouldn't willingly marry Luke, she couldn't.

"You'll have to ask her."

"I planned to but you're the one who's here so you tell me."

"Go home Sonny."

"No way."

"I can't really blame you, I wouldn't want to go home either if I was married to Caroline. Of course I'm not, I'm married Alexis and personally I can't wait to get home." He told Sonny with a grin.

Sonny didn't even think, it was as though his fist acted on its own, striking out at Luke. Again Luke met him punch for punch.

You know we really should stop doing this, one of us could end up hurt. Plus tonight's my wedding night and my wife will be awfully mad if I come home looking like a bruised pumpkin.

"Shut up Luke, she's not your anything, you don't deserve her." Sonny yelled.

"You're taking this all a little personally aren't you Sonny. I mean she was your employee, I would hardly go around punching people if Claude announced he was tying the knot."

"Alexis wasn't my employee she was my...friend."

"Friend? It sounded like you were going to say something else." Luke knew he was pushing it but he couldn't help himself.

"You know what, this is useless. I'm going to find out what's going on for myself." Sonny announced storming off towards the door.

"Considering your track record I find that hard to believe."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Sonny demanded.

"Never mind Sonny, just go home to your family and I'll go home to mine."

"You're making a mistake."

"I think the real problem is you just realised you made one."

Lucky and Nikolas watched Johnny suspiciously as they walked towards the truck. Finally Johnny broke the silence.

"Is it true MS Davis married Luke?" He asked.

"Yeah, it's true." Lucky replied.

"Wow, I have to admit I never saw that one coming."

"No one did." Lucky grumbled moodily.

"What, have you got a problem with MS Davis?" Johnny asked immediately defensive.

"No, I think she's great, better than great, she's..."

"Lucky." Nikolas said in a warning tone.

"What?" Lucky asked turning to look at his brother and tripping over something in the process. The result was the box he was holding flew from his arms spreading its contents far and wide. Nikolas and Johnny both put down their loads to help Lucky pick up the various items. Had it been any other box it might have been filled with Kristina's toys, or perhaps popcorn but it wasn't. Instead it was Alexis' clothes including the items Luke had packed which were strewn everywhere. Johnny had been so intent on picking the things up that he didn't realise what they were at first. Then he realised and turned bright red.

"Oh my... I mean I have seen the Eddie's Angel poster but these are...wow."

"Its the legs, isn't it?" Lucky asked as he held the item his father had forced him to hand over earlier, smiling as though he had been reunited with an old friend.

"Oh ya," Johnny agreed eagerly. "I mean this once when she was living in Penthouse Two she wore this little skirt that..."

"Hey, what the hell is going on? Does like every guy in this town have a thing for my aunt?" Nikolas asked exasperated as he picked up his boxes again and took them to the truck, leaving Lucky and Johnny to compare notes.

Suddenly they were interrupted by Sonny yelling for Johnny to hurry up. Johnny could tell things had not gone well for his boss. Giving the box of Eddie's Angel one more longing glance he followed his boss to the car, fondly remembering the days when Penthouse Two was occupied by; as Nikolas had put it, "the woman every man in town had a thing for."
