Chapter 8

What did he mean by that?" Carly demanded.

"What did he mean by what?" Alexis asked, unfortunately playing dumb was the one thing she didn't do well.

"He said you were my aunt."

"Did he?"

"I don't understand what's going on."

"That can hardly be a unique situation for you."

"Okay, you know what, just answer my question. Wait a minute, did you marry Luke?"

"Yup, she and my Daddy are married." Lesley Lu answered saving Alexis the trouble.

"Why on earth would Luke marry you, he hates your family."

"At least he doesn't hate me personally, which is more than I can say for some newlyweds." She said with a smirk, remembering how hard she had had to work to persuade Sonny to marry Carly.

"Sonny loves me."

"I know I've heard, everyone's heard."

"Okay, you know what? There is no way you're my aunt."

"Oh relax Carly, its not that bad. I give great Christmas presents, ask Nikolas."

"I don't believe you, you'll do anything to get Sonny." Carly announced.

"Excuse me?

"You married Luke to get close to Sonny." Carly explained as though it were obvious.

"I married a man Sonny probably has not even spoken to in years to get close to him?" Alexis asked amazed by the way Carly's mind worked. "I assume you weren't listening in class that day but the earth revolves around the SUN not SONNY."

"Very funny, I know you have been chasing Sonny ever since he dumped you."

"Carly I am going to do you a favour, because you obviously need all the help you can get. This is a little history lesson since you can't seem to retain anything longer than a few hours. I quit being Sonny's attorney even though he asked me not to repeatedly. I moved out of the building that he lives in even though he asked me not to repeatedly. I stopped being his friend. ... do you see any pattern forming here?"

She should have known, yet for some reason the slap came as a surprise. The bigger surprise was what followed. Lesley Lu's little foot, given an extra strength by her boot hit Carly right bellow the knee, causing the blonde to yelp in pain. Then she suddenly lurched forward towards the child but was stopped when Alexis grabbed her arm in a vice grip.

"Let me go Alexis." She demanded. "Come here you little brat." She called to Lulu who was hiding behind Alexis.

"Carly calm down, you're scaring her." Alexis instructed holding Carly firmly in place.

"She should be scared I'm gonna... Ow!" she gasped when Alexis' grip tightened.

Suddenly the door chimed open and an angry voice demanded;

"What is going on here?"

"Sonny," Carly cried with obvious relief though Alexis still did not let go of her.

"Carly hit Alexis, she's a big meanie." Lulu told Sonny as she pointed to Carly.

"You little brat, you kicked me." Carly yelled back.

"I only did it cause..."

"I had to cause..."

The two argued back and forth until Sonny let out an ear piercing whistle and turned to Alexis.

"What's going on?" He asked, the only person in the room he knew he could get the real story from.

"Carly and I were arguing, things got tense and Lulu saw fit to defend me." She explained before letting go of Carly and turning to the little girl. "Lesley Lu, I understand you were trying to help but we don't solve arguments with violence."

"But she hit you first." The little girl argued.

"Yeah but you're too mature to be getting in fights. Come on let's go pick up Kristina." She said taking Lulu's hand and leaving without a word to Sonny or Carly.

"You hit Alexis?" Sonny demanded when they were gone.

"Sonny, she was being obnoxious."

"I find that hard to believe."

"Of course you do, saint Alexis can do no wrong."

"At least she doesn't hit people."

"She didn't have to, that brat did it for her."

"She's eight years old Carly, and she was only defending Alexis. What was Lesley Lu doing with Alexis anyway?"

"Haven't you heard, Alexis married Luke." Carly told him, obviously relishing the news.

"Carly I know you don't like Alexis but there is no reason to make up lies about her." He told her sounding tired.

"I'm not lying, Alexis told me herself."

"Why the hell would Alexis marry Luke?" Sonny demanded angrily.

"I don't know but I'd call it a good match. They're both so full of themselves, and of course they both hate me. I've never understood why Luke..."

She suddenly stopped talking when she realised Sonny was no longer listening to her, in fact he was storming out the door.

"Where are you going?" She demanded.

"To get some answers."

Luke got to Alexis' and discovered Nikolas and Lucky were waiting outside with several boxes. He used the key she had given him to unlock the door and soon all three of them were busy packing. Luke had gone to the kitchen to see if there was anything to eat, Nikolas and Lucky were in her bedroom. After making one batch of popcorn he threw the other several boxes into a box and moved on to the living room.

Meanwhile in the bedroom... Nikolas was busy pulling several suits out of his aunts closet and placing them in garment bags.

"Oh my God!" He heard Lucky exclaim and turned to see what was wrong. His brother looked like a kid in a candy store. In front of him was an open drawer containing several items of lingerie, in his hands was something black and lacy. "I can't believe Alexis wore this. I mean I've seen the Eddie's Angel thing, but that was nothing compared with..."

"Shut up, just shut up." Nikolas yelled closing his eyes before he could see whatever it was that had his brother so ... excited.

"What the hell's going on in here?" Luke demanded after hearing the commotion.

"Lucky's playing in Alexis' underwear drawer," Nikolas tattled.

"I was just packing up some stuff." Lucky defended himself. <

"Well, why don't you go pack up the nursery, I'll finish up in here." Luke instructed when he saw what Lucky had.

"Fine," Lucky grudgingly agreed, walking out of the room.

"Um son.." Luke called.

"Yeah dad?"

Luke didn't speak but rather looked pointedly to a certain item of clothing Lucky still had in his hand.

"Oh right," he replied with embarrassment handing it to his father.

Luke stood examining it with great intensity and a huge smile until Nikolas threw up his hands and left the room, mumbling something about never being able to look his aunt in the face again. Luke turned and continued his exploration of the drawer which his son had started. He carefully picked through and chose some very interesting items putting them at the bottom of the suitcase, leaving the more sensible ones behind. Then he quickly added some clothes to cover them. Alexis was going to kill him when she saw what he had done, but it would be worth it, he thought with a grin.
