Chapter 2

Skye looked from Luke to Alexis and then back again. She couldn't believe she had heard him right. Luke came into the room and set the bowl of popcorn down in front of Alexis before grinning at Skye again.

"Aren't you going to offer your congratulations?"

Skye ignored him and instead turned her attention to Alexis.

"Are you insane?"

"Yes, remember that's my whole defence."

"There are easier ways to prove it than marrying Luke."

"I think I'm insulted."

"Shut up Luke." Both women responded. Luke simply shrugged and helped himself to another handful of popcorn.

"Relax this is just another step in the plan." Alexis soothed.

"No it's not. The plan involved me implicating you and you getting off with a few sessions from Dr. Feelgood. No where in the evolution of the plan was there mention of you marrying Luke."

"Okay so it's wasn't part of the plan, consider it a necessary detour. It's really not that big of a deal. So I'm married to Luke for a while, at least he's not trying to force feed me protein shakes."

"That's right, you were married to Jax. Is this like a habit with you?" Skye asked.

"What?"

"Marrying men you don't love."

"I happen to care for him, a lot."

"I knew it, you do like me." Luke shouted.

"I was talking about Jax."

"Sure you were."

"How much does he know?"

"About you and the lovely Natasha offing Alcazar together?" Luke asked causing Skye to look accusingly at Alexis.

The next two minutes were filled with explanations, accusations and more than a few insults. They may have joined together to kill a man but best friends they were not. Luke was sitting comfortably on the sofa, enjoying the floor show when the telephone rang. Neither of the women seemed to notice. Finally after the fourth ring he picked it up.

"Alexis Spencer's home, how may I help you?"

At his words Alexis and Skye both fell silent.

"Luke." Alexis yelled once she had regained her senses but it was too late. She listened in horror to the one sided conversation, part of her relieved she couldn't hear both parts.

"Well, well what's up doc? No you heard right, Natasha and I got hitched. Why wouldn't she, I'm quite a catch you know? Well I'll ask her but she's kind of tired, you know how it is, newlyweds and all. I really don't think that's appropriate doctor Lewis, or anatomically possible. I'm afraid I just can't talk to you when you're yelling like that. Take some deep breaths and call back once you can control your emotions. Bye bye"

"Why on earth did you do that?" Alexis demanded as soon as Luke hanged up the phone.

"We are going to have to tell people we're married you know, otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of getting married." He reminded her.

"We only had to tell the police, and Scotty."

"I think the doc would have found out eventually, I mean he is the one testifying to your mental incompetence, right?" When Alexis didn't answer he continued. "You're just mad cause you won't have a chance to play doctor with him, now that we're legally bonded."

"I am not."

"Are too."

"Am not."

"As much as I hate to interrupt I should probably get going. Before Dr Lewis or the police show up." Skye interjected trying to imagine how Luke and Alexis were going to survive being married to each other without one of them ending up dead.…

"You're right the last thing we need is for the two of us to be tied together."

"I don't know, it sounds like a fun evening to me."

"Shut up Luke."

Once Skye was gone Alexis turned to Luke, the man she was married to, for better or worse. So far it seemed to be worse and worse but given the fact that he was helping her out she didn't complain, too much.

"Okay, we should probably go to the police station. That way we can make our little announcement and look like we're co-operating all at the same time."

"Sounds good, but before we do that I think you're forgetting something."

"What's that?"

"Our honeymoon."
