"Hi Jax, come on in." Alexis greeted him enthusiastically from the sofa.
"Hi how are you feeling?" He asked coming to sit down beside her.
"Great," she responded with equal enthusiasm. Then turned to Sonny. "Sweetie, would you get me some peanut butter, please."
"Do you want oranges too?" He asked getting up and heading for the kitchen. Alexis had been having some strange cravings lately and he was constantly having to get things for her, not that he minded. "Don't ask," he told Jax seeing the strange look he was giving them.
"No thank you. Just the peanut butter, and a spoon." Sonny disappeared into the kitchen and Alexis grabbed the front of Jax's shirt pulling him until his face was only inches from her own. "You have to get me out of here," she whispered glancing at the doorway to the kitchen. "He's driving me insane." Jax couldn't help laughing at her dramatics. He soon stopped as Alexis took his face in her hands. "This is not a joke Jax I am going insane. He hasn't let me out of the penthouse since I got out of the hospital a week ago. He's hid all my files and took away my laptop. I actually spent this morning doing a crossword puzzle." She sounded horrified by her confession. "Jillian smuggled me in the latest copy of the law review but I've already read the entire thing twice. My brain is shrinking from lack of use. It took me me twenty minutes to figure out a 12 letter word for 'half of a decade'." Jax looked at her questioningly. "Quinquennium." She told him absently as she continued to watch for Sonny.
"Okay first of all your brain is not shrinking, all though even if it did you'd still be the most intelligent women I know. Second of all, Sonny is only following the doctors orders to keep you from any stress. Did I just defend Sonny? Maybe my brain is shrinking."
"Did I hear my name?" Sonny asked as he reentered the room holding a jar of peanut butter and a spoon. "We're almost out." He told Alexis handing them to her.
"Maybe you should pick some up while you're out."
"Nice try but I'm not going anywhere Alexis, if you want, I'll have Johnny run to the store."
"Sonny it's okay, I know you have things to do. Just because I'm trapped inside, doesn't mean you spould be."
"Alexis I'm not going anywhere. The last time I went next door to talk to Courtney for a minute I caught you trying to bribe Johnny to take you out."
"I can stay with Alexis" Jax offered grinning.
"I don't need a babysitter." Alexis protested.
"That would be great, I'll only be gone an hour."
"Hey is anyone listening? I'm perfectly capable of staying on my own." Sonny gabbed his coat as both men continued their banter.
"There are oranges in the fridge if she gets cranky." Sonny laughed as Alexis threw a pillow at his head. "Have fun."
"So how are you doing, really?" Jax asked once Sonny had closed the door.
"I don't know Jax I mean one day everything seems so perfect and the next I find out my brother betrayed me and I have a child out there somewhere that I've never seen. I'm starting to appriciate what you went though when you found out about Jillian."
"That was different Alexis. Firstly you weren't knowingly keeping her from me. Secondly you thought your child had died. When I found Jillian she was an unexpected gift, I didn't spend years grieving for her."
"I still can't believe it, I mean somewhere in the world is this person that I created"
"Are you going to try to find your child?"
"I don't know, I mean they're not even a child anymore. What if they don't know they're adopted? What if they do and they hate me?"
"Alexis you have a lot of unanawered questions and the only way you're going to find peace is to answer them."
At that moment Jax's cell rang. While he was on the phone Alexis thought about what he had said. He was right she did need answers and there was only one person who could help her.
"I'm sorry that's going to have to wait, I'm busy at the moment." Jax was telling whoever was on the other end of the phone. "Yes I'll take care of it as soon as I can." He hung up the phone and before he could say a word Alexis spoke.
"Jax, if you need to go take care of something go ahead I really am fine." He looked uncertain and so she continued. "Hey I'm just going to sit here with my peanut butter like a good girl. Sonny should be back any time besides which Johnny is right outside the door."
"Didn't Sonny mention something about you trying to bribe Johnny earlier?"
"Relax, he refused to accept it."
"All right but if you need anything, call me."
"Will do." She told him as he grabbed his coat and headed out the door. Five minutes later Alexis opened the door coat in hand only to be met with Johnny stern look. "I'm sorry Ms. Davis, but you know you're not supposed to go out."
The poor guy, Sonny had probably threatened his life if anything happened to her, no wonder he didn't respond to bribes. Thankfully Alexis had a plan.
"Johnny, I've told you, call me Alexis." She began hoping to put him at ease. "My doctor's secretary called and moved up my appointment," she explained hoping that she sounded convincing.
"Um well, we should call Mr. Corinthos." Johnny spoke uncertainly.
"I've already left him a message about the change, I'm sure he'll meet us at the hospital," she assured him.
"Well okay then, Johnny pressed the door for the elevator while Alexis breathed a sigh of relief.
Once they got to the hospital Alexis moved ahead with phase two of her plan. "It looks like Sonny hasn't arrived yet, would you mind calling him to make sure he got the message?"
"Sure, no problem." As Johnny pulled out a cell phone a nurse walked by and reminded him that they were not allowed. He reluctantly left Alexis in the waiting room while he went to make the call.
"Hello." Sonny answered.
"It's me sir, um Ms. Davis wanted me to call and make sure you got her message."
"What message?"
"About the doctor's appointment being rescheduled to one instead of three."
"Alexis doesn't have a doctors appointment at three today, she has one next week. Where are you?"
"We're at the hospital, Ms. Davis said..." Oh no Johnny thought. Without hanging up the phone Johnny raced back into the hospital only to find Alexis was gone.
