Chapter 5
It's been a while, (the joy of starting new classes) this is just a short chapter to get me back in writing mode, hope you like it. The next chapter should be quicker, I hope.
Alexis picked up her cell phone and quickly hit number one on her speed dial. Two rings later he answered the phone.
"Hello?"
"Sonny, what part of stay out of my life do you not understand?" She demanded without preamble.
"Good morning Alexis, did you sleep well?" He had been expecting her call, waiting for it in fact. Even though he knew she was angry he could not help the thrill that came from hearing her voice.
"I slept fine until I woke up and discovered your lackey is now my new neighbour." She told him glancing at Johnny who was standing sheepishly in her doorway where she had commanded him to stay.
"If you are referring to Johnny..."
"Of course I am referring to Johnny or are more of your men now residing in this building as well?"
"Alexis I can't control it if one of my employees decided to move." Sonny knew she wouldn't but the innocent act but still he couldn't resist trying.
"Oh but you can and you did, you are the one who made him move in here and now I want you to move him back out." She sounded petulant but she didn't care, this was not how she wanted to be spending her morning.
"Alexis calm down, you sound very stressed, that's not good for you or the baby."
"Sonny I swear to God if you tell me to breathe I am going to hang up and then come over there and beat the crap out of you." She could almost swear she heard Johnny laugh but luckily for him she was occupied with Sonny at the moment. Glancing at her watch she realised she was going to be late for her lunch with Mason. "I have to go, but don't think I'm through with you yet." Alexis warned.
Sonny meanwhile was thankful they were not face to face. Her assurance that she was not through with him had brought his dimples out with full force. Unfortunately he didn't have time to think about that now, there was something else that he had to do, whether he liked it or not.
Alexis and Mason arrived at the Grille at the same time and were just about to be seated when they heard a familiar voice.
"Hello."
Mason instinctively drew closer to Alexis when he heard Sonny's voice. When he turned he saw that Sonny was not alone but had a girl with him, his stepdaughter perhaps? Mason glanced at the girl briefly and with surprise. He had Sonny pegged for the old fashioned type and was surprised he allowed the girl to go out in such revealing clothing, he would have locked Samantha in her room for a year if she ever tried it. Since no one else was speaking Carly decided to introduce herself.
"Hi, you must be Alexis' new boyfriend, I'm Carly Corinthos, Sonny's wife," the girl said between gum smacks. Mason glanced at Sonny, then at Carly, then at Sonny again before bursting out laughing. It was only when Alexis elbowed him that he realised no one else looked amused.
"Oh you were serious?" He asked obviously confused, "I'm sorry I just assumed..."
"Perhaps we should go find a table Alexis suggested trying to hide her own smile."
"Oh Alexis," Sonny began, "about that matter we were discussing earlier..."
"I haven't forgotten, we will be discussing it, later."
"I think we may just have to agree to disagree," Sonny told her trying to hide his smile.
"I think we will have to agree to discuss it later." She told him knowing he was trying to bait her.
"I'll be looking forward to it." Mason watched with amusement as the two bantered back and forth. The blonde looked like she wanted to rip Alexis limb from limb he thought and couldn't hide the small chuckle that escaped his lips.
As soon as they were seated Mason looked intently at Alexis.
"That is Sonny's wife?" He asked giving a quick glance at the Carly who was sitting with Sonny at a table on the other side of the Grille.
"That's her." Alexis confirmed sardonically.
"Am I missing something here?" Mason asked incredulously. "We both know you can outsmart, outshine, outmanoeuvre and outclass that little girl with both hands tied behind your back, which leads me to one of two conclusions. A. You no longer want Sonny, which I have to say is my personal favourite. Or B. you're afraid. As much as I'd love option A to be true I have a feeling it's not." He told her gently.
"Perhaps it's C." She suggested quietly, not really wanting to have this conversation.
"C?"
"Yes, C as in none of the above, as in Sonny and I don't work as a couple, as in he chose to go back to his wife."
"Please, no man chooses to go back to that," he glanced at Carly for emphasis, "if he thinks he has a chance with you. My guess is you didn't give him the option of choosing, you just shoved him into the waiting arms of Carrie."
"Carly." Alexis corrected automatically.
"Whatever, the point is she's a non-issue or she would be if you opened your eyes and realised the man's crazy about you."
"Mason can we please just have a nice peaceful lunch?"
"Fine." He agreed reluctantly knowing it was useless to argue with her about this.
"Great."
Just then another man entered the room and headed straight for their table.
"Good afternoon," CC greeted the couple cheerfully. "Mind if I join you?" Without waiting for an answer CC pulled over a chair and sat down. "Now then young lady I believe you have some questions to answer."
