Chapter 5

Alexis sat on her sofa looking over the document. She had hoped to get some work done before James came over but she was too distracted. She was worried about him. After they left the police station they had gone back to his hotel room, since she knew they would find no privacy at her place. She had tried to get him to open up, but he kept changing the subject. Tonight she was determined to discover what he was hiding. Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door.

"You're early." She stated opening the door. However instead of James she found Sonny standing there.

"Early for what?" He asked grinning.

"I thought you were James." Immediately his smile vanished.

"And why would you think that?"

"Because he's coming over for dinner tonight."

"You had dinner with him last night."

"Thanks for the recap, I remember."

"What I meant was, you already had dinner with him, why do it again?"" He wasn't making any sense and he knew it but the thought of her going out with that guy again was making it difficult to concentrate.

"I happen to enjoy his company. Besides which we were interrupted last night, as I'm sure you'll remember, we didn't get to finish our catching up."

"Seems like you had plenty of time to catch up, till 3 am."

"How do you know when I got home?"

"I happened to be up, I heard you talking to Johnny in the hall." He would not admit he had been waiting for her to come home, praying she would not spend the night with another man. He had considered going to the hotel, several times. The only thing that stopped him was the fear of what he might find if he did.

"Alexis, what are you doing with this guy?"

"I'm having dinner with him." She answered deliberately misinterpreting the question. The last thing she wanted to do right now was discuss her relationship with James, with Sonny. There were too many things she had to hide

"That's not what I meant."

"What did you mean Sonny, what is really going on."

At that moment there was a knock at the door. Sonny muttered something under his breath as Alexis went to answer it.

"Hello Princess, you look beautiful."

"Thank you, James. Come on in, Sonny was just leaving." She glared pointedly at Sonny who was glaring back.

"Sonny," James greeted, "nice to see you again." He felt like he had interrupted something and by the way these two were looking at each other he was right. The sexual tension in the room was practically visible.

"Yeah, um, you too." He spoke to James but did not take his eyes from Alexis. "I'll see you later." He told her before leaving angrily.

A couple hours later Sonny looked at the folder in front of him. Once again he was amazed at how quickly Benny had been able to gather the information he asked for. He looked over the information. James Pascal was an attorney, apparently a good one. He was from a wealthy family and had spent his formative years traveling through Europe. He attended Harvard law school at the same time as Alexis. They had shared an apartment for several years until she had moved out. The next information he had stated that they had moved into a house together about four years after she moved out of their apartment. She had lived there with him until just before she came to Port Charles. Sonny looked at the picture in front of him. Andrew Pascal, fourteen years old. He didn't have any information on the mother. Benny had said something about foreign documents, apparently the kid had been born somewhere in Europe. Sonny looked at the boy. He looked like his father though his hair was more the color of... his hair and his eyes were very much like Alexis'. Sonny tried to push the thought out of his head as he continued reading through the information. Then he read it. He was certain Alexis didn't know, but she sure as hell was going to be told.
