Danniel could not keep the smug satisfaction out of his voice. He turned to Alexis in triumph. "Now that I have proof that she's mine there is nothing you can do to keep me away from my child, expect to hear from my lawyer."
Alexis sat there staring into space as though she hadn't heard him.
"Come on sweetheart." Jax said taking her by the hand and leading her out of the doctors office.
By the time he brought her home Jax was worried about Alexis, she hadn't said a word since they left the hospital.
'"Alexis there's something I need to tell you," he began as they walked through the door. Unfortunately Jillian and Kristina were sitting on the couch watching them come in so he was unable to continue.
"Hey where have you guys been?" Kristina asked.
Instead of answering Alexis turned to Jax,
"Thank you for everything but I need to speak to my family, alone." Jax hated to leave when she was obviously upset but did as she asked.
"If you need me for anything, please call." He said before leaving. Alexis sat down beside Jillian on the couch.
"Remember how we were going to go on a trip?" she asked.
"Yes, but you said we had to wait until later."
"Well I changed my mind we're going to go right away so I need you to go upstairs and start packing." Kristina knew something was wrong but she didn't want to upset Jillian so she waited until she and Alexis were alone.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothings wrong I just..."
"Alexis cut the crap I know somethings up now just tell me what it is."
"Danniel got a court order to run a paternity test and it came back a match." Alexis revealed.
"Why would he want a paternity test?"
"So he can file for custody I guess but that's not the point. He knows the truth now and he's going to tell Helena if he hasn't already." Alexis' voice was filled with panic and Kristina tried to calm her.
"Alexis he knew he was Jillian's father before the test."
"No you don't understand..."
"I can't unless you tell me the whole story."
"I can't, but I can tell you Jillian is not Danniel Marrik's biological child."
"What? How is that... I mean who is her father?"
"I told you I can't say."
"I thought you said the paternity test was a match."
"It was, that's why I'm worried. Danniel obviously found out the results ahead of time and had someone switch them."
"But if he's not the father, he knew you would realize the test results were switched, why would he do that?"
"Because he knows I'll never tell."
"Alexis..."
"No. I'm sorry I really haven't time to talk about this now I need to go upstairs and pack."
"You can't run away."
"I don't have a choice I would be risking Jillians safety if I stay here." With that Alexis headed upstairs.
Alexis and Jillian spent the next hour packing while Kristina tried to reach Jax. Finally she settled for leaving him a message just as Alexis and Jillian came downstairs, suitcases in hand.
"Are you sure you don't want to come auntie Kristina?"
"No sweetheart I can't leave right now." If she could just reach Jax she thought as she watched her sister and niece walk out the door.
"Mom I need to go to the washroom."
Alexis and Jillian had been standing in the ticket line for over half an hour. There were only six people in front of them now but more than thirty behind.
"Can you wait a few minutes?" Alexis asked not wanting to lose their place in line.
"I don't think so but the washroom's rights there I can go by myself."
"All right," Alexis agreed reluctantly.
As soon as Jillian was out of eyesite she took Alexis' cell phone, which she had grabbed earlier, out of her bag and hit speed dial 1.
"Hello" Sonny shouted into the phone, he was in the middle of a meeting and did not want any interruptions.
"Sonny?" Jillian had never heard him yell before.
"Jilly what's up?" He asked his tone softening at once.
"I need your help Sonny, Mom and I are at the airport. We're going on a the trip she was planning before. She's trying to pretend that everything's fine but she's scared I can tell."
"I'll be right there sweety, stall for as long as you can just don't get on a plane."
Sonny ran out the door determined to get to the woman he loved.
Jax decided to go to Alexis' after recieving Kristina's somewhat frantic message.
"Jax thank goodness you're here I don't know what to do?"
"Calm down Kristina what's going on?"
"Alexis freaked out about the paternity test and she took off."
"What do you mean she freaked out?"
"She said Danniel switched the results to make it look like he was the father." It was only after she spoke that Kristina realized what she had revealed.
"Danniel isn't Jillian's father?" There was no point in denying what she had already admitted so Kristina told Jax everything that Alexis had told her. Jax sat there in stunned silence for several minute before finally speaking
"Does Alexis know for sure that Danniel swiched the results?" Jax asked quietly.
"No but what other explaination can there be? Alexis swears he's not Jillians father."
''But they didn't test his DNA."
Kristina was too shocked to say anything so Jax continued. "I thought Danniel was her father I wanted to help Alexis so there wouldn't be a custody battle. I broke into the lab and switched the samples. Kristina, the DNA they tested was mine."
