Chapter 11

It was the next day before Jax came by and once again Alexis had no idea what to say.

"Can I come in?" he asked when she made no move to invite him in.

"Oh yes, of course, I'm sorry." He came in and sat down on her couch.

"So do you want to talk about it?"

"I realize what Danniel said must have been a shock Jax but I need you to know I would never do the things he said I did."

"I know that Alexis. I know you must have had a good reason for what you did, you were only trying to protect Jillian, I get that."

"Jax there's so much more to this than you realize. I want to tell you, I'm just not sure I can, I've never told anyone the whole story and..."

"Alexis you know you can tell me anything, I love you." Something in the way he said it made Alexis think he meant more than friendship but before she could question him there was a knock at the door.

"Registered letter for Miss Davis." the delivery man said.

"I'm Miss Davis."

"Please sign here, have a nice day." Opening the letter Alexis suddenly went still.

"He can't do this." she gasped

"What is it Alexis?" Silently she handed Jax the letter.

"He's demanding paternity test on Jillian? Why?"

"It's the first step in a custody suit." Alexis replied going into lawyer mode. "In order to prove any rights he must first prove he's the biological father. How can he do this, he's going to destroy everything. I shouldn't have stayed I knew she wouldn't be safe."

"Alexis calm down it's going to be alright, I promise. Even if he can prove that he's her father you can still fight him, you're her mother."

"Jax it's not that simple. I can't let him do the test, I can't." The way she sounded frightened Jax.

"What did you mean when you said you shouldn't have stayed, were you going to leave?"

"Yes and I should have. Then this wouldn't be happening."

"Alexis you can't leave. I will help, I promise just don't leave."

"Oh Jax what am I going to do?"

"You're going to take Jillian to the hospital for the test, everything will be all right I promise."

"Jax what are you going to do?"

"Just trust me, please." With that he left and Alexis went upstairs to tell Jillian they were going to the hospital for a routine check-up.

Alexis walked though the next several days in a daze. Tonight Kristina and Jillian were spending the night at Windemere. Jillian was thrilled with the idea of sleeping in a haunted castle. Sonny, who had been spending a lot of time at her place lately was too concered to ignore her behavior any longer.

"Alexis come here and sit down. He demanded leading her to the sofa. "What is wrong," he was looking deep into her eyes and Alexis felt as though he could see into her very soul.

"I ... can't tell you." She hadn't told Sonny about the DNA tests because she knew he, like Jax, would want to help. She hadn't spoken to Jax since he had sworn to help her. She had however left him several messages asking him not to do anything rash.

"Alexis I understand that there are things you can't tell me but I can't stand seeing you like this."

"Like what?"

"You haven't left the house, you don't eat, you're not sleepng..."

"I'm fine Sonny."

"No you're not. Come on," he said suddenly taking her by the hand and pulling her towards the door.

"Where do you think you're taking me?"

"To my place. I'm going to make you some pasta and watch while you eat the whole thing." He explained while tugging her towards his place.

"Sonny if you want me to have dinner with you there is such a thing as asking."

"Fine." Sonny stopped right after opening his door, both of them still in the hallway. "Alexis would you please allow me to make dinner for you tonight so that I can make sure you eat something though I feel it only fair to warn you that at this moment if you say no I'm going to pick you up and carry you in here." Alexis saw Max who had been standing outside her door smirk and she shot him a dirty look before entering Sonny's penthouse with as much dignity as possible.

"Don't look so pleased with yourself Sonny, if you ever try to strong arm me again I'll..." Sonny's lips were on hers before she had a clue of his intentions. It was a wonderful kiss and Alexis found herself losing herself in it. Eventually Sonny pulled away and grinned at her.

"What?"

"I wish I had realized sooner," he began "that is a far more enjoyable way to get you to stop talking than my previous methods."

"You..." But before she could say another word he was kissing her again. And once again it was Sonny who ended their kiss.

"As much as I'm enjoying this you are more in need of food for the body than food for the soul right now." Alexis wanted to tell him how wrong he was but before she could speak Sonny disappeared into the kitchen. He emerged half an hour later with two plates of pasta and a bottle of wine. Alexis hadn't realized how long it had been since she had been completely relaxed. She was so relaxed that she almost fell asleep in the middle of dinner. As soon as she was finished Sonny took her hands and pulled her up towards him until they were standing toe to toe.

"Come on," he said suddenly leading her away from the table.

"Where are we going?" she asked sleepily.

"I'm taking you to bed," came the lazy reply.

"What!" Suddenly Alexis was wide awake. Sonny laughed softly at her expression.

"I'm taking you to your bed where I am going to tuck you in and then come back here." Sonny explained.

"Oh. She sounded disappointed and so he quickly added.

"Alexis, I want nothing more than to make love to you but you are exhusted, physically and mentally and I don't want to take advantage of that." Alexis could not think of the words to express her feelings for him and so she remained silent but her eyes were shining with love.

The next morning Alexis got the call, the test results were in. Just as she hung up the phone there was a knock at the door.

"Jax! I have been trying to get a hold of you all week where have you been?"

"Don't worry everything is fine." Jax assured her which only made her worry more.

"What did you do?"

"Alexis I told you it's nothing for you to worry about." He decided it would be easier not to tell her what he had done, though she would undoubtidly realize once the tests came back.

"Do they have the results yet?" Jax asked.

"The hospital just called to say they had them, I'm on my way there now."

"Do you want me to come along?"

"Thank you. I could use the support, Danniel will probably be there."

Alexis was right Danniel was there and the three of them were soon ushered into the doctors office.

"You have the results?" Danniel asked the doctor as soon as they were seated.

"Yes and based on the samples we tested we can say with almost no doubt that you are the father of the child in question."

"That's not possible." They spoke in unison. Both Jax and Alexis appeared to be in total shock.
