Chapter Eighteen

"Bitch! You know how much I Love--d you!" Tears filled Brian's eyes as he watched the one and only women he had loved for the past 8 years reach for her reddened cheek.
"I deserve that," she whispered lifting up her head and rasing her eyes to his. They both had tears stinging their eyes, but Brian's were now cold and dark. Once his eyes had shown so much love, but now, only now had she witnessed so much hate in another person's soul.
"I'll sign the papers, but I want the kids and get the hell out of MY house." Brian growled as he moved closer to her.
"Bri, please we'll settle our differences. I love you." Leighanne pleaded needing Brian more than ever now.
"Well. I. Don't. Love. You." He whispered pushing her out the door of his office. Just as Leighanne was about to speak again and just before he slammed the door in her face, a squeal of laughter filled the halls.

"Brian! You've gotta see this!" Lauren stopped dead in her tracks with Brian's daughter close to her side.
"Mommy!" The tiny girl screamed leaping into her mother's arms. "Katie Bear!" Leighanne smiled hugging her daughter as tight as she could.
"I'm sorry..I didn't--I didn't mean to interrupt." Lauren stuttered as she backed away from the office door.
"C'Mon Kate let's let Daddy alone. Where's that goofy brother of yours? I've missed hearing his jokes today!" Leighanne winked at Lauren and walked down the hall, her daughter still in her arms as she jabbed away about her brother and the fun things Lauren and she had done all day.

"Brian. I'm sorry I didn't mean to intrude." Lauren looked down.
"Oh Laur. It's fine. This is my house and you are welcome in it anytime. She's not. I know I couldn't get through this without you." He whispered laying his head on her shoulder. "Brian," she smiled looking down at the grown man nearly sobbing on her shoulder. "I'll be here as long as you need me to."
"Thanks you," Brian lifted his head up and starred at her for a long time. The tears that had been welling up in his eyes were gone, the dark clouds had moved on. Lauren noticed the smile that grew on his face, no, not a smile--an evil grin. Lauren pushed him away. "Brian. I don't care what you're thinking. No way."
"Oh Lauren, don't worry. I wasn't planning anything." He smiled wickedly as he moved closer to her. He held her face in his hands and planted a gentle kiss on her lips. Lauren pulled away basking in the aftermath of their first kiss. All to soon she felt Brian's hands on her back and his lips on hers once again. As the kiss grew deeper Lauren felt his tongue rake against her teeth and she opened her mouth willingly and let his tongue roam her mouth. She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and signed against his mouth.

"DAD!!" A voice squealed causing Brian to jump up and away from Lauren all in one quick movement.
"Thomas?" Brian choked still trying to catch his breath. A young boy who looked remarkably like Leighanne entered the room; he had Brian's nose and his light freckles.
"Oh! Tommie what happened to your arm?" Brian cried out kneeling down to the small child's height.
"I fell playin' soccer, but Mama fixed my owie up real quick. It don't hurt much."
"It doesn't hurt. Doesn't, not don't Thomas."
"Sorry Daddy." Brian smiled over at Lauren. "I spent all day with Nana Jackie."
"Did you eat Mac and Cheese?" Brian held the child tightly in his arms.
"Yeah Nana makes the best!"
"That she does. So buddy where's Mike?" Lauren's eyes bugged out. Mike? Did Brian have yet another child? Lauren didn't think she could handle any more of Littrell's surprises.
