Chapter Nineteen

"Can I talk to you?" Lance asked.
"About what? About you stealing my girl? About you making my life miserable? No thanks..." he started to close the door the door.
But Lance held it open. "Stealing your girl? What are you talking about? She's on her way to California right now. She said Mandy told her that you and Mandy were getting back together and you didn't want her. She said you told her to leave."
They exchanged stories and found the source of their problems was actually Mandy. When she walked in and saw Lance and Nick standing there together she knew she was found out. Nick told her to leave and he didn't want to hear from her for a long time. Nick thanked Lance and called AJ and me and told us what had happened.
"I'll call her house and see if she's there," I said calling, she answered.
"Vanessa? When did you get there?"
"I like just walked in the door."
"Oh Nick wants to talk to you about something."
"I have nothing to say," she hung up.
Nick sighed. "I can't believe this. How's could we have fallen for Mandy lies? I should have known she would do something like this."

The next few days went on with Nick trying to get a hold of Vanessa. She blew him off. Then she started to think of reasons why he would want to get a hold of her. She decided the next time he called she would talk to him. What she didn't know was that Nick was so tired of calling everyday and being told she wasn't there or she was in the shower that he decided to just give up for awhile.

"Well we are going back to Florida to spend sometime at home since we have nothing left in New York to do," AJ said to me one morning.
"Yeah I guess l'll go back California then. We're all leaving tomorrow right?"
"Right. But, I know we should have planned this sooner but, I have this really big empty house for me and my dogs and we always like company. Besides I want you to meet my mom," he said wrapping his sexy arms around me.
"That sounds so tempting AJ, but I need to go to California for awhile. You know I can come in a few weeks though. If that's fine with you."
"I guess. But a few weeks? I'm going to miss you so much."
"I'm going to miss you too AJ." AJ sat there for a few minutes while I packed.
"You know what I just remembered?!?" he said snapping his fingers and standing up. "We have to go to LA in a week or two to meet some producers anyway. You can go to California then!" I looked at him and he made his cute puppy dog face. "Please, please, please?" he said grabbing my hands.
I smiled. "I guess AJ. Only two weeks at the most though."
He hugged me. "We're going to have a great time!"

When we got to his house he asked me if I wanted to call Vanessa and tell her my plans. "No, she hasn't been coming to the phone when I call her. She's upset about Nick I guess."
"Oh. Well make yourself comfortable. Then well drop in on my mom."
"I hope she likes me AJ I'm really nervous."
"Baby, she'll love you. If I love you I know for sure she will." I hugged him. I was still nervous though. I decided to leave my cell phone since I wouldn't need it anyway. AJ's mom was very nice. She cooked us dinner and made me feel really comfortable.

Meanwhile at Nick's...

"Come on Nick let's go down to the beach and swim!" His brother and sisters pleaded. They were all going to spend the night at his house.
"Alright, alright..." he said as they pulled him out the back door.
Mandy knocked on his front door but they were already in the water. The door was open a crack so she decided to let herself in. "Nick? You here?" she said. She went to the back and looked out the window. She could see Nick and his brother and sisters in the water. She was about to go out there when the phone rang. She decided to answer it.
"Hello?"
Vanessa didn't expect Mandy to answer the phone. "Uh, is Nick there?" she asked wanting to just hang up.
"No. What do you want?"
"Well he's been calling me since I got back to California and I haven't talked to him or anyone so I decided to call him to see what he wanted."
"You mean you haven't talked to anyone since you left?" Mandy asked realizing that Vanessa didn't know she had lied.
"Not like it's any of your business but no. So what did he want?"
"Well he just wanted to tell you that you forgot some shirts. He wanted to know if it's cool to toss them." She smirked at her own nastiness.
"I don't really care what..." Vanessa started to say.
"Look I got to go," Mandy quickly said as Nick walked in. She hung up the phone. But what she didn't realize was she didn't hang it up all the way. Vanessa was about to hang up when she heard Nick's sweet voice. He sounded angry.
"What the hell are you doing in my house?" he asked snearing at Mandy.
"I was looking for you and then I just needed to make a phone call," she looked at the phone and saw it wasn't hung up all the way so she hung it up.
"Look I don't want to see you anymore by the time I get back from the water you better be gone." Nick said picking up the towels and carrying them outside. Mandy looked at the phone and decided she still didn't want Vanessa and Nick together. She hurried and took all the phone cords out of the jacks and took and cords with her. Since Nick leaves his cell phone off when he's home Vanessa wouldn't be able to get a hold of him for awhile. She then left in a hurry.
Vanessa sat there for a second thinking about what she had heard Nick say to Mandy. Something wasn't right. She called Nick but his phone was busy. She tried his cell phone, then she remembered he turns it off when he's home. She tried AJ and my cell phones but we had left them at his house when we went to visit his mom. She didn't have the other guys' numbers. She's kept trying Nick's house but it was still busy. She really wanted to find out what was going on. She called the airport. "I'd like the first flight out to Orlando. As soon as possible."
Early the next morning she was on her way to Nick's house.
