I explained to AJ and everyone what happened.
"Don't worry. I understand. I'll drive you to the airport," AJ said. We got there and I had to wait an hour for the next flight out.
"AJ, thank you for being so understanding. I'm going to miss you so much!" I hugged him.
"You can see me tomorrow we have that Saturday Night Live thing we're doing."
I smiled, "I love you AJ."
"I love you too baby."
I sat down in the plane. I was so nervous! I held back tears. Part because I was so worried about Nathan and part because I was going to miss AJ. When I got to the airport Nathan's mom was waiting for me. She looked really tried.
"How's Nathan?" I asked in the car.
"He's still unconscious," she said tears welling up in her eyes.
When we got to the hospital Nathan was lying in the bed attached to a bunch of machines.
"Four of his ribs were broken," his mom said. I walked over to him and pulled up a chair. I held his hand.
"Nathan," I whispered. "Nathan, I'm here now." I put my hand on his cheek.
"His so called fiancee hasn't been here at all to visit him. And she claims to love him. You were all the way in New York and she's ten miles away!" his mom said angrily.
"Nathan is a very special friend," I said still holding his hand. "I knew we were going to be great friends from the firat day we met."
"I know. You two used to be almost inseparable for a while there, what happened?"
"I just...I don't know. I guess things with my new boyfriend happened so fast..." I looked at Nathan. "I could of sworn he just squeezed my hand." I said. "Nathan, can you hear me?" I asked him.
He nodded and his mother and I hugged. He slowly opened his eyes. "You're here," he said softly.
"Yes, Nathan I am," I started to get teary eyed.
"Hey yesterday I forgot to tell you that I loved you when we hung up," he said sniiung.
I started to cry, "Oh, Nathan I love you too." I stood up and kissed him on the cheek.
"Don't cry. I feel much better now that you're here," he tried to sit up but sank back down and put his hand on his ribs.
"Yeah don't move you had four broken ribs," his mother said to him.
"So Nathan what happened?" I asked him.
"Well I went to Krystal's house after I got off the phone with you and there she was with some other guy. I guess you were right I jumped into the relationship too fast," he sighed. "And to think that I really did love her."
"I'm so happy to see that you feel better, but I'm going to get the doctor to see what she thinks," Nathan's mom left the room.
"So you left your Backstreet Boy in New York to come see me, huh?" he smiled.
"Nathan, he's a really great guy. Maybe you can meet him. You'll like him." "As soon as you feel better," I said standing up as the doctor entered the room.
"I'll just be a few minutes," the doctor said.
Nathan's mom and I left the room. "Well you must have some magical powers to get him going like that," his mother jokingly said. I was going to say something when my phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hey babe, how's it going?"
"AJ! I miss you already. Nathan seems to be doing all right. The doctor is checking him right now."
"So when do you think I'll be able to see you? Soon I hope I miss you so much, too." He sounded so sexy when he said that.
"As soon as I can okay,"
"Alright. Everyone says 'Hi'. I love you. Bye."
"Love you too," we hung up.
The doctor walked out, well he seems to be doing better but we want to keep him here for a couple more days."
We went back into his room. Nathan was now sitting up drinking some water. "I'm going to go get something to eat," his mother said kissing him on the cheek and excusing herself. I sat back down.
"Are you going to stay at my house while you're here?" Nathan asked.
"Yeah," I said fiddling with my hands.
I spent the next couple days there. When Nathan was sent home I was sure he was fine enough for me to go back to New York. I kind of wanted to stay a couple more days but I really missed AJ. Nathan and his mom drove me to the airport on the 17th of May.
"I'll let you guys say goodbye," his mother said and walked away.
"Thank you for coming all this way to make sure I was okay," he said looking at the floor.
"It was my pleasure Nathan. I am really happy to see that you're fine now..." they called my flight over the loud speaker. "I better get going," I started to turn away but he grabbed my hand and pulled me back.
"Thank you," he said. He looked sad to see me go.
"Nathan I'll see you in a month or so. I'm not leaving forever," I said giving him a hug.
"I know, I just...I love you," he said. It sounded different from when he used to say it.
"Well...I love you too Nathan. I better go before my plane takes off," I said turning away quickly. He grabbed my hand again.
"No, I mean I really love you."
I smiled, "Nathan I know, I got to go."
I guess I didn't get it until he said, "Angela, I'm in love with you. I always want to be with you. I love you more than words can say..."
"Nathan, I...I got to go," I turned and ran to the boarding gate. I didn't want him to see me crying. How could he be in love with me? We were only friends. Or were we? I thought of all the nights I had spent at his house. We would fall asleep watching movies, or we'd fall asleep cuddling because one of us was hurt by an ex. We'd go to the movies, carnivals, parks, malls and everywhere else together. We always held hands but never kissed or anything else. Except one night at a party but we had both been drinking? So we blew it off as nothing. I thought about it for another hour until I fell asleep. The jerking of the plane woke me up. Wow I was pretty surprised that I slept through the whole flight. It was 9:00 am and my flight landed at 9:15 am.
I got off and looked around. I saw AJ before he saw me. He was wearing a baseball cap pulled down low, sunglasses, a dark blue sweater and baggy light blue jeans. He had his hands in his pockets. He looked so cute! I started walking towards him. He finally saw me and started waving so I walked faster until I reached his outstretched arms. When he put his arms around me I felt so happy.
"I missed you so much," he said as he nuzzled my ear and pushed my hair back. I hugged him tighter.
"Let's get out of here," I said. AJ took me to his favorite fast food place before taking me back to the hotel. When we got to his room Vanessa and Nick were already there waiting for me.
"Well it took you long enough!" Nick said looking at AJ. "You know he left almost two hours early to the airport to make sure he got there on time?"
I looked at AJ and he shrugged, "I was just anxious to see you!" We talked late into the night. At around 11:30 p.m. I asked the guys if they had the day off tomorrow which was the 19th.
"Nope," AJ said. "We have to wake up bright and early, around 5:00 am, we have a Sears commercial to shoot. The next day we have the Rosie show to go to."
"Oh, can we go to the Rosie show?" Vanessa asked.
"Sure you guys can sit in the audience," Nick said. "Isn't Howie's mom going to be there?" he looked at AJ.
"Yeah I think so."
"Well we better get to sleep then AJ. You have a long day tomorrow."
Vanessa and Nick left and we went to sleep.
