Chapter Seventeen

AJ was gone when I woke up at 9:30 in the morning. Vanessa called me at 10:00 to inform me that Lance was taking her to breakfast and asked if I wanted to come along.
"No thanks I'm just going to hang out here for awhile."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah I'm tried and I feel like being alone for awhile."
"Alright then, bye."
I fell back to steep. Vanessa waited for Lance outside the hotel.
"So do you have any idea where you want to go?" he asked.
"No you take us where ever you want." He took her to a cute little restaurant. When they had finished ordering Vanessa's cell phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hey girl, I tried calling our room but you weren't there."
"Oh, I'm, uh, having breakfast."
"With Angela?"
"No, I'm alone." She didn't want him to get any ideas but she felt bad for lying-again.
"Oh, I just wanted to tell you we'll probably be done in a few more hours. Okay. Love you."
"Love you too. Bye." Vanessa hung up the phone sad about lying to Nick about having breakfast with Lance.
"Was that Nick?" Lance asked.
"Yeah," she said slowly.
"He doesn't want you seeing me or what?" he asked.
"No it's not that I just...I don't know. I shouldn't have lied to him."
After they were done Lance pulled his wallet out to leave a tip. Lance put his arm around Vanessa when they walked out. Just then some guy ran up to them and started snapping pictures. Vanessa turned her face and Lance put his hand up to the cameraman. As they hurried to the car the photographer followed them until they pulled away.
"This is great!" the photographer thought as he made his way back inside the restaurant to snap pictures of the food they hadn't eaten. When he got to the table he saw a photo booth picture of Lance and Vanessa. The one where he had his arm around her and kissed her cheek. It had slipped out of his wallet when he pulled out the tip. The photographer snapped it up. He did a column for the entertainment section of a local newspaper.

"What was that all about!?" Vanessa asked in shock.
"Well, it happens all the time. Reporters try to get a story. You know?"
"A story. A story on what, two friends trying to have breakfast" she said getting a little angry.
"Well that's what happens when one of the friends happens to be a member of a famous group."
"Oh, yeah. I keep forgetting about that," she sighed hopping the pictures didn't get printed. When she got to the hotel she told me what happened.
"Are you serious?" I asked. "Do you think they'll make some kind of story or something?"
"I hope not," she said.

The guys got back a few hours later.
"My throat feels funny," Nick said trying to clear it.
"I got a runny nose," AJ said.
"I knew that rain was going to get me sick," Nick pouted. "I need some hot chocolate for my throat."
We all ordered some hot chocolate. They told us about the day they had. Vanessa was thinking of telling Nick about her day but changed her mind. The next day we didn't have to wake up too early but AJ wanted to take me to breakfast. I grabbed a newspaper as we sat down. After we ordered I decided to flip through it. I took a sip of tea and started to choke when I turned to the entertainment page.
