The end of a fairy tale . . .

The Countess Lila Fowler di Mondicci dug her toes into the smooth white sand of the Italian Riviers and looked out to sea. Tisiano was Jet Skiing about a hundred yards offshore. The motor roared above the slap of the waves.
As she watched the green waters of the Mediterraniean, Tisiano waved, then expertly jumped the Jet Ski over some rough water. When he had stopped bouncing, he smiled at her and zoomed on.
When Lila looked out at the water again, Tisiano was closer to shore, about fifty yards out. But this time she saw a thin line of blue flame licking along the Jet Ski. That couldn't be - the glare of the setting sun on the water was making her see things . . .
The explosion rocked the air, hurling bolts of sound across the waves to shake the beach. Lila fell to the ground, partly from concussion and partly from shock. A ball of flame leaped into the sky and raged briefly. Then the sea was calm and green and silent again, only small waves disturbing it's glassy surface.
There was no Jet Ski.
There was no Tisiano.
