"Excuse me," Elizabeth said to the clerk behind the desk at the Sweet Valley resort Hotel. "I asked for Sam Burgess's room, but I was sent to a room with a plaque on the door that says Owner's Suite. There must be some mistake."
The clerk raised an eyebrow. "You did say you were looking for Mr. Burgess, did you not?"
"Yes, Sam Burgess," Elizabeth clarified.
"Sam Burgess owns the hotel," the clerk said.
"Owns the hotel?" Elizabeth could barely contain her disbelief.
The clerk sighed. "That is why Mr. Burgess is in the owner's suite."
"Wait a second. Are we talking about the same Mr, Sam Burgess here? The one I'm looking for is nineteen years old, sandy brown hair, dressed like a college student, probably wearing jeans and a T-shirt?"
"Yes, that's him," the clerk answered slowly, as if speaking to a child.
Huh? Elizabeth thought. ould there be two Sam Burgesses that match that description?
