Chloe saw three freshman girls sprint toward Jessica the second the blonde excited her class room. "Jessica!" they shrilled in unison. "Hi! Congratulations! We heard you won the pledge-chairwoman election at Theta! Omigod, I love your shirt! Your shoes are so cool!"
Chloe noticed how startled Jessica looked. Well, who could blame her? She was just trying to leave Communications 105, and these three gushing slimes had been lying in wait like paparazzi.
Chloe frowned. Who did these freshman think they were fooling They were obviously trying to act all chummy to Jessica in hopes of getting a Theta bid. "Hi, Jessica!" Chloe called, sure Jessica would be grateful to Chloe for rescuing her.
"Uh, hi, Chloe," Jessica said.
Huh? Chloe wasn't like those other annoying freshmen, desperate to pledge Theta. Desperate to suck up. She and Jessica were friends.
