Tom Watts and Todd Wilkins are freaking. How could they accidentally leave Jessica behind?
They're sure their team will get disqualified . . . and Elizabeth will have them both killed. Can they put aside their differences long enough to track down the wayward Wakefield?

A stranger on the road . . .

"Hey, little lady. Nedd a ride?" the dark stranger drawled in a husky southern accent that made Jessica think of molasses and graval mixed together. Mirages don't speak! she thought in excitement, her heart leaping like a Norwegian salmon in spring. With his pomaded, fifties-style jet-black pouf, slanted gray-green eyes, and spify, royal blue silk shirt, the suave stranger was the answer to Jessica's prayers. And then some. A rescuer - and an ultra-swanky one to boot!
"I guess I do, mister," Jessica replied breathily, lowering her eyelashes demurely and almost unconsciously adding a cool, southern lilt to her voice. Although I ouldn't tell you where! Not that it really mattered anymore. As the stranger got out of the car and Jessica's eyes flickered appreciatively over his long, lean physique and fitted-but-not-too-tight black dress pants, she already felt aeons away from Team One and all the bad memories she associated with the contest.
"Allow Elvis Presley to help you out, ma'am!" the stranger added, breaking into a grin that revealed flawless white teeth.
