Jessica stopped and squinted into the darkened hallway outside her cell. "I'm not a troublemaker. I can't sleep."
"Guilty conscience." One of the voices snickered.
Jessica tossed back her blond hair, her eyes blazing. "I'm not guilty of anything," she proclaimed. "I shouldn't even be in here!"
"Oh, sure." Another woman laughed cruelly. "Then why did you break down crying in the cafeteria? Guilty, I say."
Jessica felt her face heating up. "That wasn't guilt," she shouted. "That was - I justcfelt so bad."
Two more voices erupted in laughter.
