Ben to the rascue . . .

"My foot!" Jessica wailed.
As Ben tenderly took her right foot in his hand, he nearly recoiled. Blood gushed from the transverse arch. Just below her middle toe, an inch-long gash gaped open horribly.
"Careful," Ben urged. "You don't want to make it worse. What did you step on?"
Leaning over, Jessica reached into the sand.
"A knife?" ben scooped Jessica up and carried her toward the parking lot.
"I think I'm dripping blood on your bathing suit."
"Don't worry about it," he said tenderly. "Am I holding you OK?"
"Perfectly," she said in a silky voice. "Were you ever in agony and ecstasy at the same time, Ben? I'd rather be here like this with you than dancing with any other guy."

She had to be all right! He broke into a run, her weight as light as a child's in his loving arms.
