Welcome to the Amityville Obsession.

The original Amityville Horror was filmed in a house in New Jersey as apposed to the original house in New York. The house in the film looks nothing like the actual house except the half moon (eye) windows. They tried to film it at its original location but they were not allowed in the house.

The town of Amityville became upset because their totally uninteresting quiet town got a bad rep. When anyone thinks of Amityville they will think of death and ghosts. Now that their town has become a tourist attraction they decided not to cooperate with anyone.

The head of the historical society lied to cover up the Amityville story of an ancient Indian burial ground.

Hanz Holtzer wrote the book "Murder in Amityville" which soon became "Amityville 2: The Possession."

According to Holtzer, an expert in the paranormal, the abundance of flies could be led to the devil, who is known as the "lord of flies"

Ron DeFeo sr. planted lilies and put saint statues in his garden to prevent any evil spirits.

Not only priests can perform exorcisms. An exorcism happens when the spirit inside the possessed is impressed with the religious feeling of the exorcist. Anyone could perform this ritual.

The Amityville house stands on the plot of 112 ocean avenue. The address has been changed and the famous 'eye windows' have been removed. It is now owned by a lawyer named Wilson who is very hostile to the Amityville story. He does not want to believe it and denies participation in anything related to it, including denying entrance to his house. Hanz Holtzer believes the Amityville house will burn down because the activity is so great that without being recognized the house can combust.

The story of the priest dying in a car accident is a MYTH.

Jay Anson did not really write the book "The Amityville Horror" but just had his name put on it to hide the fact that George Lutz gave all the information.

2 priests entered the Amityville house. 1 blessed it for the Lutz's and 1 told them that he couldn't do anything but that Lutz should go to a publisher, then gave him the name in one from New York.

The anger of the house is not in the house itself. In fact it stands on the land. In 1782 a wooden house was built on the plot and in 1904 they complained about paranormal disturbances. The house was moved down the street and the haunting stopped.

Father Peckerarro was told to "get out" by a disembodied voice. Butch Defeo was told to "kill."

Before lawyer Wilson moved into the Amityville house the police chief lived there.

A cemetery is not always holy.

The DeFeo’s lilies continued to grow even after they left. When the priest came for the Lutz's to bless the he sprinkled holy water on them. They died that night.

The plants remaining were ripped out by the next morning and the saint statues were smashed.

Being a medium is not rare. There are 3 types of mediums.

1. Prediction - psychics are prediction mediums. They see an even before it happens.
2. Reliving - a reliving medium sees an imprint of an event that happened. Like a moving photograph of the
Dead.
3. Channeling Medium - a channeling medium can see and speak to the dead.

Exorcisms are not performed by priests anymore.

Father Peckerarro, the Lutz's priest, was NOT really attacked by flies.

The Amityville house is NOT haunted. A haunting is when a ghost lives with the living in order to accomplish something they did not in life (unfinished business.) The Amityville house has disturbances which is when a ghost wants something and may turn to harmful acts.

The ghost in the house is NOT the DeFeo family. The house was built on an Indian burial ground and the Indian chief was washed up on shore when a child took its skull and started playing with it. The skull was returned and the body was the buried in the backyard.

The chief wants to chase the Lutz’s away.

The house was built in 1928 on a sacred Indian burial ground.

In November of 1974 the DeFeo murders took place.

The Lutz's left in the dead of night, but unlike the movie, it was not raining.

A number of tenants moved into the Amityville house and left within 6 months.

70% of those tenants claimed to have paranormal
Disturbances

20% of those tenants refused to talk about it.

10% complained of nothing.

The Lutz's left within 28 days and left all their belongings behind.

It was George Lutz's idea to leave.

The DeFeos were Roman Catholic.

Holtzer explains that the reason no one heard the DeFeo’s being shot is because when there is high paranormal activity the sound barrier is blocked.

Butch DeFeo’s lawyer was Mr. Weber. He was a scoundrel and very money hungry.

Butch DeFeo called the police himself.

The Lutz's paid $82,000 for the Amityville house, which is a low price for a Dutch Colonial, even back in the 70's.

Butch DeFeo was a drug addict.

The Lutz's were very religious.

Hanz Holtzer, paranormal expert, was the first to enter the Amityville house after the Lutz's left. Upon his entrance he brought Ethal Jonson Meyers, a medium, who knew nothing of the house. Upon arrival she mentioned an Indian burial and the second house.

The Warrens were a husband and wife couple. He was an artist and she was a psychic. They said there were demons in the house but Holtzer believes they were making it up.

Someone on a flight from Chicago ask Holtzer if he could go to the Amityville house. Holtzer said he can't get him in. The next week the person went on the radio and declared it a hoax.

During the Holtzer séance a man appeared in a picture with Hanz.

Hanz Holtzer is a parapsychologist and an author.

Holtzer says Butch was possessed by an Indian chief.

Bank sold the Lutz's the house without mentioning any phenomena.

George said he saw pig prints leading to his daughter’s window and a pig with red eyes peering in and out.

The disturbances influenced the Lutz's change in character.

Most people assume the DeFeo’s haunt the house. They don't.

The Amityville house was built in 1925.

6:30 pm Butch opened the door to Henry's bar and tavern located on the corner of Merrik road and Amityville and told them that his family had been killed.

Robert Kelski, John Aliteri, Joey Yeswoit, Al Saxon, and Will Scordamiglia drove to the Amityville house with Butch.

Butch was tried and right before Thanksgiving was found guilty. On December 4, 1975 Justice Thomas Stark sentenced him to 25 - life 6 times over.

Butch says 3 people were involved in killing his parents, and his sister, Dawn.

Dawn mentioned killing their parents when they would not allow her to go to Florida with her boyfriend at 1:00 am on November 13, 1974.

The DeFeo's were shot with a .35 Marlin rifle.

Butch says that Dawn killed the children.

Butch states that he struggled with Dawn for the gun and shot Dawn.

Butch now rests at the Green Haven Correctional Facility.

Big Ronnie DeFeo (father) was born on November 16, 1930 and was 43 when he died.

Louise DeFeo (mother) was born on November 3, 1931 and was 42 when she died.

Marc DeFeo (younger brother) was born on September 4, 1962 and was 12 when he died

John DeFeo (younger brother) was born on October 24, 1965 and was 9 when he died.

Allison (younger sister) was born on August 16, 1961 and was 13 when she died.

Dawn Theresa DeFeo (older sister) was born on July 29. 1956 and was 18 when she died.

Louise's brother testified in the DeFeo case. Saying "We were all sitting down in the basement watching TV, and, I don't know, the boy had done something. All of the sudden, he stood up, the father, and just hit the boy this way into the wall. The boy banged his head or part of his shoulder or something."

Big Ronnie wrote a song to Louise when they were having marital problems. He tried to get her back by writing "The Real Thing" in 1963. Then Jazz great Joe Williams recorded the song for the album, "One is the Loneliest Number"
