Alastrina
Topic: Shannon
A long time ago on the Isle of Skye there existed a tiny elven village called Spiritwood. This tiny village was a quaint friendly village and was filled with life and prosperity. One night, while the village was sleeping peacefully, a gang of ferocious barbarians pillaged the village, killing most of the men and raping the women. A young woman by the name of Adorellen, one of the most beautiful and loved elves of the village, was brutally beaten and raped by 5 barbarians and her husband was murdered. By the time the sun rose, the village was ransacked and half of it was burnt to the ground. Only a handful of the men survived and the woman were left shattered.
A few months into the rebuilding of the village, Adorellen came to a gruesome discovery…. She was pregnant. When Adorellen approached the elven King, he told her that she was to never to tell her child what it was……the child would be raised as a pure elf and would never know that it was unpure…. Half elf and half human.
Adorellen gave birth to a healthy beautiful baby girl and named her Alastrina. Alastrina was a happy child and was the light of her mother’s life. Although the elves of the village tried to keep secret what she really was, it was hard not to treat her differently as she was a constant reminder of that terrible night. Alastrina always knew that she was different….by the time she hit adolence she really had no friends and decided to train with the elven warriors. It was during this time that she met Aladar. Aladar was the Prince of Spiritwood and was training with the warriors as well; at his fathers request.
As the two young elves trained side by side, they got to know eachother in a way that no one would have thaught. Late at night when the stars and moon were at their brightest, Alastrina and Aladar would meet by the crystal pond and spend hours just talking and listening to one another.
Eventually the King heard about these meetings and was outraged. He planned to put an end to their little fairytale. On the night of Alastrina’s 18th birthday, the night that Aladar was planning on proposing to her, the king followed Aladar to the crystal pond. When Aladar was just about to ask for Alastrina’s hand, the King came out from the darkness and told the two that their marriage would not be granted for his son would never marry someone who was unpure. Alastrina of course did not understand what he was talking about, so the King decided she was old enough to learn about that faitful night. When the King was done speaking and he know that Alastrina understood, he told her to leave his village and never to return.
Heartbroken and faced with baneishment, Alastrina returned to the village to gather up some of her personal belongings. She kissed her mother on the forehead and whispered “I love you and I’m sorry” in her ear and began her long, lonely journey to nowhere. And as she walked in the dark cold night, she vowed revenge on the barbarians who destroyed her life and the lives of those she loved.
As time went by, Alastrina journeyed across many lands and waters and met many different people…. People who taught her many things….. and it was during this time that Alastrina met a scout and leader of a mersenary band. This scouts name was Carlinya Maradorn. Carlinya offered Alastrina a place to call home and a family again. But best of all… she also offered Alastrina a chance to complete her life’s goal….. revenge.

                             World's laziest monk

An easy life – that’s all he ever wanted. None of that working for twelve hours under the immolating sun, nor any of that slaving for years on random knick-knacks such as shoes, food, clocks, or cobblestone (somebody has to carve it). No, for him, all that was important in life was being able to relax and enjoy it. So, when considering what he would do to provide for himself while following this lifestyle (specifically when his family threw him out), his mind drew him to the clergy, and the memory of not having seen them ever do any real work. So, after a long journey down the road, he signed himself up to join the ranks of the church.

The priestly life was deceptively difficult. Waking before sunrise any morning, being forced to pray without napping, humbly performing chores to maintain the church, and undertaking physical penance, not to mention the hours of biblical study and scribing of ancient documents, take their toll on a person. It usually takes years to master all the nuances and draw from what the church can offer. He dropped out on the second day.

Left out in the cold on that lovely April afternoon, he decided to take action, and look for alternate means of provision. After napping for a couple hours, he started thinking about professions that would let him blend in well, and pay him for his substandard effort. This is when he thought of joining a warband. The times were peaceful enough, and he could just blend in as another mercenary. So long as he could leave a strong enough first impression in the leader’s mind, he would be able to get by with minimal effort. The only problem was, he needed a weapon. After devising a way to make a staff that swings itself (and calling in a favour to get an old friend to make it), he sought out the nearest warband.

Discovering a warband led by an intimidating man named Flayed, he proceeded to request admittance into the ranks. Mustering all the energy he had been saving through the weeks since he left the church (nobody said he was in a hurry to reach the warband), he performed an impressive display for Flayed. Smiling, Flayed allowed the weary mercenary into his fold, and asked for the man’s name. Too exhausted, he could only reply “Mnn.” Flayed laughed, and the name has stuck.

Mnn does not mind his life in the warband. It is far easier than the life he would face with the church. Flayed insists that he exercises through training, but this happens for a few hours once per week, so Mnn is willing to accept this until his retirement, which he has already started planning.

Richard
Topic: Kade

Richard McOrmand lived his younger childhood in luxury as a son of a very successful Merchant family. When he was still young no quite in his teens yet his Uncle the head of the Family Took most of the family fortune and went to Japan in a risky business venture, leaving the home with his wife and son and a debt over there heads he never returned. With out the Head of the family they quickly took on more debt to the point where Richards own father was ready to sell his son to another family as a hand boy. The last family bodyguard took Richard and taught him how to fight, he then spent most of his life from then one traveling form on mercenary war band to another avoiding conflicts. Though he knows how to fight he still fears the battle field. One day the camp he was staying in got ambushed, the old family bodyguard tried his best to keep Richard away from the fight but when he fell due to an enemy’s quick sword.  This was the first time Richard lost him self in a rage, he feared death but was taught to be strong so this fear mad him angry he was also taught to keep a cool mind and calm in a fight so this made him confused with all these emotions floating around at once he froze and at the key moment his instincts took over. When the fight was over he was the only one left standing or better to say left alive. Not knowing what happened he dug all the dead graves. At the end of the day it turned out his camp was out numbered 3-1 and he berried them all. Nights went bye even weeks and all he could dream of was killing his friends though he did not remembered doing so but the thought hunted him. His choice weapon from after that day was two large stone cudgels with large spiked Guards (thought fate would have it that they would not last long). In his mind in a fight they would with stand almost anything and maybe the wait and bluntness of them would slow his rage.

After some time he traveled and stayed on the only path he new anymore he joined more war bands and was kicked out of almost all of them because of his rage. In his travels he heard of great warriors called Paladins how kept calm in all situations and after seeing one in battle he knew what he had to do. He then left to join the order of the paladins to earn the right to ware the symbol of the Phoenix. He studied hard red his scriptures and trained hard. So finally he got his chance and passed most of the Paladins Test and finally the combat test. He kept his calm for the first while in the fight  after a while he had his doubts, he was losing the fight and right as one of the Paladins where ready to deliver the final blow he couldn’t take it anymore his fear was to much and so all the other emotions ran wiled and the rage talk over, when he came two he was restrained on a table with healers around him healing his wounds, as they worked his memory floated in, he killed a man in the fight crushed the mans skull between his cudgels, seeing this sight the paladins realized what happened to him six of them took him out. As he laid there he over heard some of the other healers talking about how they where unable to revive the man Richard had killed. The horror of his was so much he cried he was told that the healers would bring them back in the test fight that there here precautions for this, but it seamed the damage dealt to the paladin was to great for any healer. The paladins where furious over a death of one of there own and swiftly kicked him out swiftly

After leaving the paladin temple some villager thugs thought they would relive him of his purse and possibly there his life, It was the last that was the mistake. After killing the first wave they kept coming surrounding him and trying to kill him. They did not care about Richards’s money any more just revenge, Felling abandoned and outnumbered there was noting holding back his rage. This time he saw everything as it happened he witnessed his own rage. Never did his rage go on this long and his cudgels could not stand up to the test, Thy shattered halve way through the fight and all we was left with was the spiked guards thy where all he needed. After the fight was over he still was in a rage shaking uncontrollably when a lone warrior walked on the field, the man carried a very large great sword and a Katona at his hip. Not wanting a fight he called out to the man not to come closed. After a pause the man stuck his great sword into the ground and gung his Katona on it. As the great sword plunger into the ground Richard saw a Phoenix and a dragon fighting in a symbol of a circle. Seeing these symbols caused his emotion to wash a way the fight was over. This man said his name was Yoshi a black smith traveling home to prove his honor. Richard heard of this man once before a man how earned 2 knight hoods at a knight’s day compaction held on some island. A man offered to be a paladin and turned it down twice. After hearing part of Yoshi’s stories he told his own every detail. Yoshi looked at Richard with a family like fondness and told Richard of a war band that would except him and help him harness his rage and maybe even control it. The day came when Yoshi was to board a ship to Japan they would not allow him aboard with his Zombatoe (the Great sword). So he gave it to Richard with one last parting gift a pair of large swords made from Richards own hilts and spiked guards. The Sword where oddly made and strong Yoshi said they would even with stand the most furious rage. So Richard when and joined this war band Giving its leader Flayed a letter for Yoshi and the Zombatoe, he was the expected with no questions asked. Finally a place he can live that should accept his rage and him proven bye the actions of a man names Sessk wow will do anything to get Richard to laugh.

Orin Baker
Topic: Terry

Orin was born into a simple and humble family, and trained early on as a carpenter, like his father, his grandfather, and in fact all of his family as far as their recorded history goes. Orin was not like the rest of his family however, and was not content to be a simple maker of furniture and other wooden things, he was always asking deep philosophical questions which his family, being simple, humble folk, were not equipped to answer. Questions such as "Why are we here?", "What's the meaning of it all?", "What is the real purpose in life?", and "If we're all carpenters, and have always been carpenters, why are we named Baker?". That last question was the final straw, and Orin's family kicked him out, as he was far too philosophical for their humble home to remain simple and happy if he was in it.

Orin traveled for a time, seeking answers to his grand questions of life, the universe, and where to eat lunch, when he met a wise monk named Xin, and received a sign that said he should follow this man, as his path would lead to the wisdom and inner harmony that Orin sought. At first this seemed odd, since the monk Xin was a true study in contrasts - he sought to be a loner, yet he was attracting followers left and right. He was a monk - supposedly a philosopher of peace, yet he entered into deadly combat on a regular basis. In this way, Orin discovered that the way to true inner harmony and tranquility was to embrace conflict in it's many forms:
the Philosophical conflict of the great questions in life,
the Psychological conflict of achieving that which you seek to avoid,
the Physical conflict of battle, and random senseless beatings.

And so, along with his fellow followers of Xin, the Warrior Antonio and the Alchemist/Healer Simon Cobenzl, Orin has joined the mercenary band, so seek out and embrace conflict, and thereby achieve tranquility.

Simon Cobenzl (koh-ben-zil)
Topic: Erich
"A Most Distinguished Alchemist and Merchant of Miracles Having Traveled Both the Known and Unknown World Thrice Over"

Those who dabble in alchemy and the occult rarely divulge the truth of their identity and origin and Simon Cobenzl is no exception. While he is rumoured to have studied in Tuscany at Siena University, his first chronicled appearance was at the seat of the Eastern Orthodox Church at Constantinople as a siege engineer employing unquenshable fire against the Saracen armies. Twelve years after he appeared once again in Versailles as an optomistrist and a peddler of restorative reagents said to stem the tide of aging, to which he sold to women of wealth. In Venice, five years after, it is whispered that Cobenzl dueled an enraged Comte du Ballard armed with little more than a simple treebranch that claimed the Comte's life. According to witnesses, it was nothing short of dark sorcery.

How little or much of these rumours are true, he never says. Simon, to own the truth, speaks very little. As he explains it, an 'unfortunate necessity in the distillation of wisdom' is what struck him seemingly mute, though he has devised a potion that, once imbibed, returns him to a 'lesser state by which communication can be brokered.' In these times the Alchemist Cobenzl has spoken of places at the edges of the world that he has travelled to. He has, to name a few, learnt the techniques in metallurgy of far-away Nippon, exotic herbalism from the Malayan penninsula, and a dervish fighting art from the Philippines. From his time in the Middle Kingdom and the Islamic Crescent he has studied advanced forms of medicine and anatomy, a service he will sell alongside his array of unlikely wares. As for the deeper parts of the world, the hidden depths of which he may or may not have delved, he retains silence and keeps a cautious eye.

Carlinya Maradorn
Topic: Justine
Carlinya was born into a noble family, and as first daughter of the Maradorn bloodline, she was the heiress of her fathers wealth, holdings and title. Carlinya, however, has a very stubborn and independent streak. She abhorred the idea that life and all it's luxuries would be handed to her without her earning them. She wanted to make her own way in the world. She left home with her personal savings and what she could carry and apprenticed herself out to a wise old scout in the forest. Her father, saddened by his daughter's disappearance, but also angry at her for abandoning all he had gained for her, disinherited her.

Carlinya learned scouthood and proved adept at it, but she is still adapting to life outside of castle walls and nobility's privileges. Her mentor died a short time ago and now Carlinya is on her own. She is trying to make a living selling what skills she can. Either by leading others through the forest, or using her garb skills acquired before she left her home.

Yawynn Myrrh
Topic: Justine

Yawynn is a member of the Aztec tribe that makes its home far south of the island. Her tribe has existed since the Aztecs were in their prime and since then they have tried to keep the old ways alive.
It is traditional that a woman past puberty who wishes to become an Amazon and join the warrior culture must prove her worthiness with a rite of initiation. In the past a test would be arranged in the area around where the tribe’s village is situated, but now the tribe is so feared that it has by reputation cleared out that entire area of any possible threat. So Yawynn has been sent out to prove herself and return to her home with a symbol of her worth.

Shortly after leaving the Aztec lands Yawynn met Flayyed and fought him. Seeing her skill and potential Flayyed offered her the chance to return with him to Windsor and join Carlinya’s mercenary band. Not understanding what he meant, Yawynn asked Flayyed to show her this “mercenary band.” He produced the Maradorn heraldry and upon seeing the four-sided stars on the symbol Yawynn interpreted them as a sign from her gods and she joined Flayyed at once.

Now Yawynn trains with the mercenary band to go to the island and compete to try and win a symbol to prove her worth. She fights with a shield painted with a symbol of her gods (a four-sided star) for protection and to hopefully draw their notice and blessing for her eventual success.

Asaya Toshi
Topic: Donald
Born and raised in Japan, he was but a simple child of a village merchant, but when war was taken to his tiny little village. His parents were both killed (at the tender age of 10) Asaya took up the tanto his father dropped in the death blow done by the raiding army, and slew the attacker. He hid and remained at his home in silence for many days living off bits of rice and food that was left behind by the murders. Until the Imperial army came hot on the heels of raiding army, he was picked up but one of the sargents in pity. Crying as he was removed from his family, the tears remained as he was forced to watch all the villagers burned in a mass grave. He slowly became more cold as time went by, trained by the family of the wealthy sargent. His training was all he had left, he soon became a killing machine. His story would have ended shortly there after, until his master confronted him about his tragic past. Asaya in his foolishness attacked the master who had angered him and tried to talk to the troubled boy(at heart). He lost but was not killed, instead his master took him under his wing and taught him of honour and compassion. To this day he has held all those ancient words close to his heart, and will never raise his sword to someone who will hear words. But those who would try to use this to their advantage, would soon learn that he was just as quick with his sword as he was with his tongue. Also that his wrath was terrible, and vengence was still in his core closely guarded.

Asaya is now 22 and has been traveling the world in search of battles that need a warrior. He will protect the weak and punish the wicked. Fighting the odds at any turn.

Flayed Zerrix
Topic: Adam

Flayed used to be under the command of a dark Sorcerer Named Daserdon Zerrix. This Sorcerer treated Flayed as the son he never had and taught him how to fight and about a dark scenes of Honor and tradition passed down along the Zerrix line. But Flayed had a questionable heart so Zerrix used a spell to keep Flayed in line. The spell gave Flayed his free will but made Zerrix’s ideas seem outstanding so he followed them without question no matter what inside him told him it was wrong. One day Flayed was sent out on a mission to a far off land. Little did Zerric realize this would be his fate. The ferther Flayed got from his master the less hold his master had on him.

Flayed was sent to destroy a rival wizard that Zerrix had deep in a forest to the north. He ventured there and found this mage, this mage crouched on a small hill in a glade, he was old and had his neck exposed. As if ready for Flayed to kill him. Flayed began to have doubts as to why he should kill a man. A man that was unarmed and obviously no threat at all. Flayed did’t kill him but let him live. Flayed had in that moment broken his masters hold on him and was free. He realized all of the torment that he had caused and of all the vile deeds that him and his master had created. He was even more disgusted that he actually found joy in it all. The old man knew that Flayed was questioning himself and began to speak with him. Words of wisdom and of that ancient word--forgiveness. Flayed spent the next few days with the man learning about the joys of being a good man. However the old man died after those few days and Flayed was crushed. He hurried back to his master and confronted him.

Zerric told Flayed about his reasons for what he had done. Flayed was shocked and had never felt the rage he felt in that moment when he realized that Zerrix was using him. Flayed became furious and Killed his master in that fit of rage. Then he remembered everything, both sides of the story, the love that Zerric did feel for him and the joy that he had with his master. But he also remembered the teachings from the man he was supposed to kill that died anyways. Flayed could barely hold in his anger he fumed with hatred at no one other than himself for a long while.

Flayed, now 21, has found a type of peace. He has joined forces with a mercenary warband under the command of Carlinya Maradorn. The first time these two met was on the battlefield. Flayed had heard of the mercenary warband that was being trained for the upcoming knights day. So he followed them and offered Carlinya his blades if she could best him in battle. Carlinya won and graciously accepted Flayed into her Mercenary warband. Here Flayed fights for atonement and his twisted scenes of Honor. Here he has found a kind of loose knit family that accepts him as him.

At knights Day he was knighted the Knight Of the Mask Showing him he had True Character, and some sort of atonement. After all was done Carlinya Maradorn asked Flayed to take the leadership of the worbad with Yoshi. he Accepted and Now works at whipping the small warband into a Army
