SOMERSWORTH @ HANOVER
Hanover was a seesaw game riddled with mistakes by the Somersworth team as well as the coaching. Ryan would carry the ball only eighteen times with only fifty-one yards to show for it. The rest of the field didn't fair so well either carrying the ball sixteen times for fifty-one yards also.
Somersworth ground game was not working but still the score was close. Nichols blocked a punt and late in the fourth caught a long pass from Dent for the score. This brought Somersworth within four but they could not regain the ball for a last attempt at the win. After the game everyone was down, as if they lost a title game. If you followed this group of kids while they grew up you would understand their depression. The 6-9 grades were banner years for this team, winning the title two of three times. A couple of the kids played varsity as Sophmores (Nichols, Schank).

LEBANON @ SOMERSWORTH Somersworth would host Lebanon in their home openner. After the loss to Hanover they would need a win to lift their spirits. The Hilltoppers ran all over them with Nichols leading the attack with 178 yards and a TD. The next days headline read 'Nichols Night'. Somersworth blanked them 27-0.
