As they drive past a very long set of steps (the same ones as in "The Music Box") they notice Anita at the top. They get out of their car, and knock at another door, at the bottom. When a woman opens the door, Stan begins to talk to her. After a while Ollie interrupts, but he clearly says the wrong thing as she slams the door in his face!
Their hats both blow off. They pick them up, but again have the wrong hats on. Ollie notices this, and they exchange. He then bawls Stan out.
Anita shouts to them from the top of the steps, and they turn round. She shouts to them
- Come on up here! -
She backs away from the top of the stairs, and Stan and Ollie begin to carry the washing machine up the stairs. Anita watches them.
At the top, Ollie stumbles, and his hat falls off. It flies all the way down the steps to the bottom and lands in the street. Stan and Ollie watch it go, and then Ollie says
- You get it. The slightest exertion and everything goes blank with me. -
Stan begins to cry. The washing machine slips and Ollie shouts at him. Stan walks down the steps, and Ollie struggles with the washing machine. It begins to roll away from him. It rolls down the steps, and Ollie chases it. It hits Stan in the back and he falls over. Ollie rolls into him. Stan smiles at Anita, still at the top of the steps.
They get up and put on the wrong hats. Stan picks up the machine, and exchanges hats with Ollie. They begin to bring the machine back up the steps. Anita sits down and waits for them.
