The Boys arrive at a four door apartment block. Stan knocks at one of the doors, and the door on either side opens. Stan and Ollie see this, and move the machine over to knock on one of the doors.

The door they just left opens. They pick up the machine and go back. They knock again, and a woman at another door opens. Seeing this, they take the machine to show to her, and knock again. The door next to this one opens. Ollie notices this, and they carry the machine to that door. Again, they are too late.

They are now stood at another door. Stan begins to knock, but Ollie stops him and whispers in his ear. They knock at the next door along. The door they just left opens. They see the woman stood there, and wonder what to do. Finally, Ollie makes a decision and tells Stan, who does just the opposite.

Stan and Ollie choose the two middle doors, and both knock. The two end doors open. They make a run for those, but both doors are closed again by the time they get there. So they knock at the end doors, and the middle ones open. They run to the middle doors. Again, they are too late.

Frustration and desparation set in. They knock at all four of the doors, but are still unsuccessful. The two end doors open, and Stan runs to one door, Ollie to the other. Both women seem interested, so they go to get the machine. When they return, both women have gone in again!

They both take their hats off and throw them into the street. They cross over, round the back of the washing machine and pick up their hats. Now, of course, they both put on each other's hats. They exchange, and push the machine against a wall.

They begin knocking on the doors again, but it seems the women have better things to do, and exit from their apartments. A cop turns up, and watches Stan and Ollie. The Boys are annoyed. They kick the doors, and Stan actually kicks one in! He pokes his head inside. Ollie sees the cop, and Stan does a moment later. Stan smiles. They sheepishly return to the washing machine and pick it up. They carry it past the cop, and then run.

THE SCENE FADES OUT.
