Flat Tops

wilderness area

In the summer of 1999, Mark and I took a few days trip to Flat Tops Wilderness Area in Northwestern Colorado.  It was unlike anything in Colorado.  In the States, it can only be compared to the Columbia Plateau in the Pacific Northwest for it's nearly unmatched terrain.  It is the second largest wilderness area in Colorado.  Unlike most other great Colorado hikes, this area is not dominated by peaks reaching to the skies, but rather gently rolling hills at elevations of 11,000 feet and a feeling of utter solitude.

There's really no great way, for an un-poetic person as myself, to put words to the scenery or the feelings one has standing in the middle of the Flat Tops.  They are unmatched in my experience.  So here are a few pictures of Mark and my incredible trip.
