When I was about seventeen, I began to write songs that reflected the way I felt about the world in which I lived. I began to sing about political unrest and ignorance (i.e., prejudice). My influences were Eric Clapton, Black Oak Arkansas, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and a lot of country and western groups. Many of my songs are "country flavored" as I played a lot with my father in various country bands. When I attended New Mexico State University I played in a band called SPOOKED BY SILENCE! A few years later I hooked up with a couple girls, Judy and Mina, who played Americana style Folk music. They were really good and had access to a music studio. The lead guitarist, Alfred, arranged most of their stuff while the girls did the writing. We recruited a bass player, Ernie, and my old drummer from POWERGLIDE, Leo Chavez. For a while we were called JAMBELT, an acronym created by using the first letters of people involved in the creative process including the sound mixer, Bob. We disbanded before anything real good came of it although three or more songs were completed. The girls still write and play music whenever possible on their own. I moved to Colorado.
