Who are out of towns?
out of towns is a three-piece band from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The band plays punk-influenced mid tempo rock, perhaps with some 80’s pop influence. However, with unique intros and bass lines, harmonizing guitar, and original drum beats, out of towns has found a style all their own. The band has had comparisons anywhere from Jawbreaker to Face to Face to Weezer. If you really want to know what they sound like GO SEE THEM PLAY and/or GET YOUR HANDS ON THEIR MUSIC when it comes out. Thus, you can decide what kind of band they are and what they sound like. Band members are twenty-two year old twins Jerrod Long (guitar/vocals) and Jerrett Long (bass/backing vocals) and seventeen year old Joey Campbell (drums).

How did out of towns start?

In the winter of 97, after the break up of our first band SMALLCAUSE, I had learned a little guitar and JT and I started writing music. Though different now, this was the beginning of out of towns. We started writing simple pop punk songs and began the search for a drummer. We met a guy named Josh Amondson who shared some common interests with us musically. At the time, he was the guitar player/ vocalist for the INDIGINTS. He offered to help us get something started and said he would temporarily play drums for us. We started practicing, even though I didn't have much experience playing the guitar and in April of that year we did our first and last public appearance at DBU’s Battle of the Bands. After this, Josh decided to leave, going full time with his other band. Needless to say, we were pretty bummed that he left but little did we know what God had in store us. At the beginning of the summer, we played a little bit with Nathanial Duris, the drummer for our first band. Soon after that JT and I went overseas, thus putting the band on hold. After returning from our trip to Taiwan we were ready to play. We started writing new songs, keeping two of the old ones. After much prayer and patience we found our drummer. Through a friend we met Joey Campbell who previously played in WAX MYRTLE. His band was no longer together and he was looking to start another band. Our first practice was in mid-August and we played our first show in November. Thus, you now know the whole story of how out of towns started. By Jerrod Long
