E-MAIL LINKS |
- Angelfire
- Very good E-mail service to use in conjunction with your FREE HOME PAGE on Angelfire. This allows you to create the appearance of "community continuity" and stability when designing a web site for an organization such as a church or club group.
- Hotmail
- This is MSN's free E-mail service. You can login directly from the MSN home page. It works, but has a couple of annoying "features" such as it doesn't handle attachments most of the time. (And then there's that STUPID pop-up frame you get when clicking on a URL in an E-mail message - AAAAGGGHHH!) I like to give this out wherever there is a possibility of generating junk mail because they have a BLOCK SENDER button.
- Mail.com
- This site has several domain names to choose from.
- MailCity!
- Another good E-mail service in the Lycos family. Why would you want multiple E-mail accounts? If you have to ask, you must be a newbie!
- dotNow!
- To go with free internet access

FREE LINKS |
- Angelfire - Free Home Pages
- Undoubtedly the best home page service I've ever seen. Simple URL - no special characters - and a quick & easy online page editor. THIS is where I spend most of my time online. It works and it works well.

FREE INTERNET ACCESS |
dotNow!
- Unknown hours / month
- Does not spontaneously disconnect - if you can get online.
- Works for awhile, then suddenly stops allowing you to connect - for weeks or months at a time - with no explanation other than: "username or password not valid on domain."
- And, like many online entities, they simply don't answer specific technical issues via e-mail, so I never find out why my username is not valid. I just keep trying every couple of days, even trying new dialup numbers until it just starts working again all by itself. It also helps to visit their site (using a different ISP) to see if there is a new mandatory download. You may have to dig through different pages to find the info you need. I got locked out one day, then accessed them at www2.dotnow.com a couple of days later and found that there was a new, emergency, mandatory download, yet the regular homepage at www.dotnow.com showed no indication of same. Perhaps I got snookered by a hacker, but after installing the new download, things worked fine for almost a month.
- When it works, this is my favorite free ISP. And I think that they have good intentions, but simply can't get their act together. I also suspect that perhaps they have a limit on number of hours per month, but simply can't get around to telling their customers about it.

NetZero
- Prompts for user click every 20 minutes.
- You can avoid an unintentional disconnect by clicking on their ad before going to the bathroom.
- Better for downloading large files.

NO LONGER FREE

- Netaddress X X X
- A year ago, every outgoing email contained a built-in signature that proclaimed "Get free e-mail and a permanent address..."
- I guess NOT, huh ?
- Freedrive X X X
- I'm waiting for them to change their name to Paydrive.com
- Actually, they've recently changed to Xdrive and they have a great offer:
- FREE 15 Day Trial for only $4.95 a month ???????
