Emperor Valentinian III

Placidus Valentinianus, later Emperor Valentinian III, was the son of Emperor Constantius III and his wife, Aelia Galla Placidia. As such, he was the younger brother of the troublesome Justa Grata Honoria.

Valentinian III was elevated to the position of Western Roman Emperor in 425 and remained in that position until his assassination in 455. He was largely an ineffective ruler and for a more detailed discussion of his reign, visit the DIR page dedicated to him.

Valentinian III married his cousin, Licinia Eudoxia in 437, and had two daughters, Placidia and Eudoxia.
