| It
is so “cool” to be an SMB band. It is every band’s
dream to become one. It seemed like a long shot at the start.
But Stagecrew has become just that.
The
Cebuano band, Stagecrew, first gained national recognition
via the movie Jologs with the song “Next in Line.”
They
called themselves Stagecrew because they started exactly that
way: stagehands for a college cultural group, standing at
the wings and taking care of jobs the audience would not notice.
Nobody ever expected them to take center stage, not even themselves.
Stagecrew
was formed during the heydays of the local "banda-banda”
scene in Cebu. They were just a few of the faces in the crowd,
wanting desperately to be in a rock band. They started out
as any wannabe did. They lined up for a slot |

at
neighborhood fiesta concerts and performed at some local joints
just for a few bottles of beer and a couple of handshakes.
They mimicked their favorite Manila bands, sang their songs
and lived a band-kinda-life. Now they perform alongside some
of their idols and sing their own songs.
They
have become one of the country's most esteemed bands as they
have recently been signed up to join the very prestigious
roster of SMB play bands in the capital to endorse the country's
premiere beer brand, San Miguel Beer.
The
band composed of Rommel Tuico (vocals), Jason Dacua (keyboards),
George Castro(drums), Eduard Ceballos(guitar) and Joel Gabucan(bass),
now shuttles around the country for gigs here and there sincerely
winning hearts of crowds all over.
