They’ve been through the toughest times and
have survived the worst, playing it cool under all the pressure.
Despite the wear and tear, Cueshé’s devotion to music
and performing has never wavered.
They derive
their repertoire from their common interest in alternative music
It includes cover songs from such bands as Sugar Ray, J. Giles
Band, Smashmouth and Vertical Horizon. “Our music backgrounds
are different, pero sa alternative music nag-abot tanan. This
is the melting pot of our musicality,” says bandleader Mike.
And their music has taken them to numerous achievements. Cueshé
has been nominated for Best New Artist and reached the Top 5 for
the Best Jingle Category at the SMB Cebu Music Awards 2000. Their
accolades include gigs at Jiggy’s and the Abbey during the
Ad Congress 2001, events like Bloodbath at the Village. Their
versatility and professionalism has given them opportunities to
do front acts and perform side by side noted artists and bands
such as Eva Santos and Wolfgang.
Frontmen Jay
& Ruben give their heart out to every performance the band
plays. Their energy is infectious, passed on to bandmates Fritz,
Jovan, Mike and Junjie. Rhythm men Junjie and Jovan provide the
melody while bass man Fritz and drummer Mike fill out the groove
section.
Starting out
as a band named after a favorite native snack food, Cueshé
has become one of Cebu City’s most sought after band. Be
it during their regular gig or outdoor events, Cueshé is
classified as one among the few great party bands of the metropolis.
