CHAPTER

(Chapter 6)

Todd and Tea had dined at the Riverside Grill with Antonio and his new girlfriend, Kerri. Most of the conversation had been about the law office in Angel Square that Tea and Antonio had opened a few months ago, right after Antonio passed the Pennsylvania bar exam. It was a small practice but it enabled Tea to practice the kind of law that she’d always dreamed of, providing good, legal representation for lower income clients, or as Todd liked to refer to it, “legal slumming.” Tea had also landed a few high profile clients like Victoria Carpentar and Todd Manning whose retainers helped her altruistic enterprise to survive and hoped to get many of the small businesses in Angel Square as he clients.

Todd had been pretty quiet most of the evening, still a bit uncomfortable socializing with people he wasn’t close to though he and Antonio had bonded somewhat after their adventure in Greece when they rescued Tea from Aaron Blackmoor. Tea smiled as she watched him nursing a scotch and looking at his watch under the table.

“You should have seen her in court,” said Antonio, “Tea wiped the floor with Asa Buchanan’s hot-shot lawyers. She got a huge settlement for our client in what would have been a simple workmen’s compensation claim if Buchanan Enterprises hadn’t taken the poor man to court. Now…I’m sure Asa’s insurance premium’s will sky-rocket thanks to the handiwork of Tea Delgado-Manning Esquire.”

Todd smiled and winked at Tea before taking a sip of his drink.

“So, Todd…Tonio tells me you’re the publisher of The Sun,” said Kerri, a pretty woman with toasted-almond skin and hair of brown ringlets, trying to make conversation with a man whose reputation and history both intrigued and intimidated her completely.

“Yeah, so? Oh…let me guess…you think it’s a rag, right? A piece of sensationalistic garbage? I suppose you’re more inclined to peruse the venerable Banner, that fine periodical of journalistic integrity, refinement and wit run by my sister,” snorted Todd.

“Actually, I prefer The Sun. The Banner is too mainstream, a tired old paper whose main concern is maintaining the status quo and more interested in the fashions on the society page than the real tough issues that plague this town. And besides, I must admit you’re editorials are very entertaining…a bit scathing, but very persuasive…you’re not afraid of taking on anybody. I admire that.”

Tea smiled proudly. Todd raised an eyebrow, surprised by Kerri’s comments and not used to admiration from total strangers. Suddenly he looked uneasy, more comfortable on the defensive than on the receiving end of a compliment.

“Yeah…well somebody has to expose the slimy hypocrites in this town.”

“I love Todd’s writing…he’s the Jonathan Swift of the 21st century, exposing social injustices through sarcasm and humor. I think my husband is a brilliant satirist.”

Todd rolled his eyes at Tea.

“Great, Tea…I ‘m as brilliant as a guy who’s been dead for 200 years.”

They all laughed as Antonio got up and pulled Kerri up with him.

“If you both will excuse us I’m going to take my lady for a dance,” he said as they headed for a small dance floor in the corner as a soft, salsa beat played over the speakers.

Todd looked at his watch again.

“Oh…look at the time, Delgado…I think we need to leave now. Not that the conversation hasn’t been simply scintillating, or the company utterly captivating, but…we have a half hour drive home…and I need to…uh…get my stamp collection in order before that philatelist’s convention I’ve been meaning to attend,” said Todd getting up. Tea laughed and pulled him back down beside her.

“Amor…it’s only 8:00.”

“Aren’t you bored? I mean Antonio and…what’s her name…they’re okay…but I’d rather be at home…alone…with you…doing…stuff.”

Tea took his hand below the table and leaned against him.

“I know…me too. But Antonio wanted me to meet her…and we never go out…so, I thought we might have fun. Besides…it’s not so bad, is it?” she asked, leaning in and kissing his cheek softly.

“Well…I like this part,” he said, turning to her and kissing her mouth hungrily.

“Oh…I love this song. How about a dance, amor?” Tea asked quietly as Sade’s “No Ordinary Love” began to play overhead.

“I’d rather take that fish knife over there and hack off my metacarpals one at a time…and eat them.”

Tea laughed.

“Come on…dance with me,” she whispered seductively. “Por favor, baila con mijo, adorado…”

On the other end of the diningroom Sam sat across from Blair whose eyes were fixed on Todd and Tea. Sam was talking, unaware of the scene playing out in front of Blair, as she watched their hands playing under the tablecloth, watched them whisper to one another and kiss in plain sight.

“Blair?”

“Oh…what? Sorry, Sam…what did you say?” asked Blair, looking back across at her dull dinner companion.

“You seem distracted tonight. Are you okay?”

“I’m great Sam…couldn’t be better. I have Jack with me all the time…but…I still don’t see Starr as much as I’d like…just a few hours a week.”

“Well…I’m sure Todd will increase your time with Starr very soon. You’ve been wonderful with her. By the way…I saw a young woman, small with bright red hair, coming out of your apartment a few times. Who is she.”

Blair looked surprised…nervous and caught off guard.

“Oh…that’s Cherry. I hired her to clean the apartment a few times a week. The poor dear needed a job…I felt sorry for her.”

“Well…that’s very kind of you, Blair. You can be so generous…”

But again Blair’s attention was diverted and focused across the room as Todd and Tea got up from their table and walked to the dance floor hand in hand. In all their time together she never remembered Todd dancing with her…only the occasional dance de rigueur prescribed at one of their wedding debacles…ceremonial mockeries organized by Todd in his silent contempt of their union.

It was strange watching them…Tea, exotic and elegant in a red silk, backless dress with her hair pinned up, Todd, dark and gothic in a charcoal suit and sweater…watching them interact so easily, touching so frequently…and dancing. He was a stranger to her as she watched him dancing slowly, barely moving…as he whispered something into her hair and Tea closed her eyes, smiling mysteriously as his fingertips caressed her bare back softly. They danced in their own world…oblivious to everything and everyone, unaware of their offenses to her.

Blair sat motionless…fixed…as something stirred deep down inside her. In the dark depths of her cunning uterus a seed had been planted, a burgeoning rage that simmered and expanded, threatening to break through her skin and tear it open. She was pregnant again, breeding a powerful gall that needed to be released…and avenged. They had stolen everything from her and in the midst of this dark epiphany she had a perfect moment of clarity…she knew what had to be done. Looking down and touching her belly she saw the most potent weapon in her arsenal…the one that would destroy him.

Finally the song ended and Todd and Tea walked back to their table, quickly taking their leave from Antonio and his date as Blair watched them leave the restaurant hand in hand.

* * * * *

Tea jammed the stick shift into fourth and slammed the accelerator as she drove Todd’s black Jaguar down the freeway between Llanview and Windsor Lake, winding and weaving through the cool darkness, heading for home.

“I love this car,” yelled Tea, having talked Todd into letting her drive.

“If you’d let me drive we’d be home by now,” he sulked.

“You want me to go faster?” she teased as she shifted into fourth gear and gunned the accelerator.

“Hey…hey, Delgado…slow down. Are you trying to get us killed?”

Tea laughed and eased up on the pedal bringing the car back to the speed limit.

“What is wrong with you tonight, Tea? Are you drunk?”

“No…just happy.”

“And when you’re happy you drive like a maniac?”

Tea braked suddenly with a violent jolt, causing the car to skid roughly, and pulled off the dark road into a wooded area on the shoulder, bringing them to a complete stop as Todd grasped the edge of his seat to keep from leaping out of it. Turning off the headlights, Tea jumped off her seat and over the stick shift, hopping onto his lap, straddling him easily.

“When I’m happy…I do everything like a maniac, querido,” she whispered in a husky purr.

Todd smiled in the darkness as Tea hiked up her red dress and wiggled around on his lap, removing her underwear. He pushed a button on the inside panel of the door causing the seat to recline fully backwards as her hands unhooked his trousers and unzipped him quickly pulling them and his boxers down over his knees with an impatient tug. In seconds they were both stripped naked from the waist down.

Lying across his naked hips she reached up and freed her hair, letting it tumble wildly over her shoulders, releasing her inhibitions and reaching down, she began to fondle him. Her hands worked quickly, lifting his hard, heavy cock and rubbing it lovingly against the soft, warm skin of her belly and sliding the delicate head around the rough hairs between her thighs as she watched his face take on a dreamy delirium, illuminated by the soft blue light from the dashboard.

“Just lay back, my love…and enjoy the ride,” she said as she continued to rub his sensitive foreskin and listened to him moan softly, his breathing coming faster and harder. “Look at me, amor…watch me. Make love to me with your beautiful eyes.”

Todd opened his eyes and watched her above him, watched as her hand caressed her wet succulent lips then moved down over her breast fondling her nipples that hardened and poked through the soft silk of her red dress. His eyes followed her hand as it moved over her bare belly, down between her thighs and joined her other hand in loving him. She was alive and aroused above him, teasing and toying with him…her fingernails running along the length of his shaft, squeezing his testicles until he groaned. Pressing the head of his penis against her wetness, she swirled it around and around causing a delicious friction that made his hips rise up instinctively and push against her, trying to insert himself into her. She scraped the tender, swollen head against her clit, rubbing it hard and fast until she started shaking, unable to control her own delicious spasms, the pleasure so good she could barely stop herself from coming.

“Tea,” he whispered desperately, “put it in…”

“Is that what you want?” she teased, their eyes locked together.

“Yes…let me in.”

“What…what do you want?” she asked. “Tell me.”

“Fuck me, baby…destroy me,” he cried, his voice a ragged plea.

Lifting her hips up and holding him erect she finally inserted the head into her steaming wetness and slammed down against him with all her strength, taking his thick, enormous length completely inside her.

“God…” he moaned, his head slamming backward against the seat with force as Tea glided up and down on him in long, slow movements, constricting her muscles so tightly around him he cried out and trembled beneath her with the incomparable pleasure and relief of insertion. His hands rose up and grabbed her bottom, his strong fingers digging into the taught flesh, gripping it tightly for leverage as he pushed into her, penetrating deeper and harder.

Tea sighed deeply, her head was thrown back and he couldn’t see her face but her cries and moans got louder as he grunted and burrowed into her finding that raw, tender place that brought her to the brink, unleashing his aggression and battering the spot with all his strength. She slammed him back hard against the seat and grabbed his hips, pumping hard against him, her most primal instincts taking over as she sought her own pleasure, the seat groaning and rocking beneath them. Finally, their ignited senses exploded and they cried out.

They came together, the rollicking sensations scalding their insides, their muscles contracting sharply, pulsating wildly as he continued pumping the rest of his essence into her trembling body and she continued moving against him, riding out the powerful orgasm till there was nothing left but throbbing excesses of fulfillment.

Todd fell back helplessly with a deep sigh…sapped dry, and Tea slowed her movements, finally stopping, falling forward in exhaustion. She laid on top of him, her mouth still hungry…wanting more…still seeking his, their lips touching and playing as their tongues touched softly and their breathing slowed and softened. When they stopped, their faces were still, just touching, and all they could do was stare at one another. Finally she was able to speak, her voice a languorous, sensual whisper filled with passion.

“I’m so perfectly happy tonight, I can’t imagine wanting anything more. All I could think about at dinner is how much I wanted you. While we were dancing, querido…I was thinking such shameful things…of taking you…riding your body like this. That’s why I made you leave right away…I was so…wet…so hot…my sex throbbing for yours…I could barely stand my legs were so shaky. I couldn’t wait another second to love you.”

Todd stroked her face, her sexual candor staggering him. An honesty he’d never known with anyone else…and never expected to feel in his life.

“I can’t believe what you do to me…the things I think about when I look at you. Nothing feels better than this…coming inside you. It’s the only real truth I’ve ever felt and never doubted. All I want, Tea…is just to love you and tell the rest of the world to go fuck itself,” he said, choking slightly. “I know I don’t deserve to feel like this…to feel this good…to have you.”

“Yes…you do,” she said quietly, wiping his eyes. “I love you…I love you,” she whispered, her eyes misting as she kissed him softly. When he was calm again, he could only smile at her.

“What’s with you tonight, Tea…you’re on fire”

“I don’t know…I’m just…so happy. I can’t imagine more than what I have at this moment…you, Alma, Starr. It’s…perfect joy.”

He pulled her to him, holding her tightly as he closed his eyes, soaking in her warm scent and her beautiful spirit as they lay together quietly, clinging to one another on that dark road listening to the sounds of the night, only occasionally disturbed by a pair of glaring headlights that interrupted but passed quickly, then disappeared. A few minutes went by in this shared mutual delirium as they continued to grin and kiss.

“Let’s go home, amor…I miss our babies. I want to kiss them good night and then go to our bed and…sleep in your arms all night,” she said lifting her head up and looking into his devastatingly beautiful eyes.

“Me too.”
