Tea: He'll use it against me. He'll pull me in and then push me away again. I've been through this tug-of-war with Todd too many times. All I ever have to show for it are rope burns. Not this time! This time I'll be the selfish one.
Del: You were never very good at that, even when you were a little girl. You always put everyone else's needs before your own.
Tea: Not this time. Do you hear me? This time Tea Delgado's needs come first.
Del: You don't have to convince me. I never wanted you with that creep in the first place.
Tea: If I leave this island, it won't be because you want me to. If I stay, it won't be because that's what Todd wants.
Del: Are you considering staying?
Tea: It might be safer if we waited until morning before heading back to Hawaii.
Del: I agree.
Tea: You think this is about Todd. You're wrong. I'm selfishly thinking about my own safety. That's all.
Del: What I think isn't as important as what your island Neanderthal will think.
Tea: He'll think he can control my actions. He'll be in for a surprise. The Tea Delgado he knew ceased to exist the day he chose someone else over me. I forgave him too much in the past, but that is the one thing he will never be able to convince me to overlook.
Del: He might try, if we stay.
Tea: Are you trying to convince me to leave now?
Del: I'm not trying to convince you of anything. I just want my baby sister to be happy. I don't know why being with Manning would make any woman happy, but you were happy enough to marry the guy a second time.
Tea: That happiness didn't even survive the wedding night, don't forget. I certainly haven't forgotten Todd's lies that time, or all the other times.
Del: Your relationship is confusing for us outsiders to understand.
Tea: It's confusing for the insiders, too.
Del: What do you want to do about Manning this time?
Tea: Every time I swear walking away will be easier. Why isn't it?
Del: Maybe someday it will be.
Tea: When? He left me stranded on a deserted island so he could be with another woman. After that, walking away from him should be as easy as breathing.
Del: Breathing isn't always easy.
Tea: I'm too confused right now. Todd always does this to me. He makes it impossible for me to think clearly.
Del: We could stay one night. You could give Manning one final chance to convince you to throw your life away on him again. In the morning, after he's blown his chance, we could head back to Hawaii, get drunk and bitch about how life has yet again let down the Delgados.
Tea: Why do we have such lousy luck?
Del: Because, we're always falling for the wrong people.
Tea: Have you ever regretted falling in love?
Del: I've never been in love.
Tea: That's not really true, is it?
Del: I've always had trouble telling the difference between love and lust. It's only after my relationships crash that I figure out which it really was.
Tea: Maybe that's my problem. Maybe I'm still in lust with Todd and I only think it's love.
Del: No one has ever been in lust with Todd Manning.
Tea: You don't understand his appeal.
Del: I never want to.
Tea: What I want to understand is why, when I know it will only lead to yet another disaster, I continue to risk everything for that man whenever he asks me to.
Del: What about this time?
[Tea looks off in the direction of the cave she knows Todd is pacing in right now, wishing she could get back on the raft and abandon him as he abandoned her, but knowing that her heart won't allow it.]
Tea: He needs me.
Del: What about what you need?
Tea: I need him to need me.
Del: Do you want me to go back to Hawaii without you?
Tea: No. I'll do what you suggested. I'll give Todd one night to convince me I'm not making another mistake.
Del: What if he can't convince you?
Tea: Todd has always been good at convincing me that this time will be different.
Del: If you know nothing ever really changes, why do you believe him?
Tea: I don't. But, one night with Todd is worth more than a million nights with anyone else.
Del: Maybe I should go back. You're my baby sister. I don't want to be here when you and Manning...
Tea: Nothing will happen.
Del: No guy goes to this much trouble for a girl without expecting something, and a lot of it, from that girl.
Tea: Nothing will happen. If Todd can accept that, we'll stay...for one night...if he doesn't do something stupid to change my mind in the next few minutes.
Del: I'll get the raft ready.
Tea: Knowing Todd, that's a good idea.
[Tea leaves her brother on the beach and slowly walks toward Todd's cave.]
