CHAPTER 47 |
PREVIOUSLY: Tea: I'm only letting you come to my room because I want some answers and I need to lie down. You're not spending the night in my room.
Todd: Whatever you say.
[Todd picks up his suitcase and begins walking toward the building. Tea follows him...a smile on her face.

chapter 47:
[Minutes later...
Tea and Todd return to her room. Todd places his suitcase on her bed and opens it.]
Tea: You are not spending the night here.
Todd: Do you really want to waste time pretending?
Tea: I didn't go out there to bring you back here.
Todd: Sure, you did.
Tea: I didn't. I needed answers. I still need answers.
[Todd removes his toothbrush from his suitcase. After closing his suitcase he places it in her closet and turn toward her.]
Todd: Do I get to use your toothpaste? Or, do you need to pretend to put up a fight first?
Tea: You can use my toothpaste, and then you can return to your van.
Todd: You changed your mind and you want to go for a ride now?
Tea: I want you out of my room.
[Todd places his toothbrush on a small dresser and approaches her wheelchair.]
Tea: What are you doing?
Todd: I'm putting you in bed.
Tea: I can do it myself.
[Todd positions himself for lifting her out of her chair. The closeness of him unnerves her.]
Todd: Are you sure you don't want me to help you?
Tea: I don't need your help. I need your answers.
Todd: I'll answer all your questions after we're in bed together.
Tea: If I let you into my bed, you'll tell me the truth?
Todd: We might be too busy to talk.
Tea: Nothing will happen.
Todd: You'll sleep better than you have in a long time.
Tea: Will you?
Todd: Yeah.
Tea: Why?
[Todd lifts Tea out of her chair, enjoying holding her in his arms again, the way he always does.]
Todd: Did you already brush your teeth?
Tea: Yes.
[Todd gently places her on the bed. He quickly picks up his toothbrush and enters the bathroom.
Minutes later, when he returns to the bedroom, he finds Tea trying to position herself on the bed to make room for him to lie down.
He smiles as he walks around her bed and prepares to lie down.]
Tea: Don't look so smug.
Todd: Why not?
Tea: I'm not letting you stay because you want to.
Todd: I know. It's because you want me to.
Tea: If this is the only way I can get the answers I need, I'll do it.
Todd: You'll suffer through sex with me, just for some stupid answers?
Tea: There will be no sex.
Todd: We both know how impossible it is for you to resist me.
Tea: You should leave.
Todd: It's okay. You don't have to resist me anymore. You can have me...as many times as you want.
Tea: I'm not ready for this.
[The smirk on Todd's face disappears. He leans toward her and lightly touches his hand to her cheek.]
Tea: I shouldn't do this.
Todd: What? Share a bed with me? You liked it before.
Tea: Everything is different.
Todd: You can still do that twisting your body around mine thing. I'll help you.
Tea: I shouldn't trust you.
Todd: I shouldn't trust you either, but I do.
Tea: You've never trusted me.
Todd: I trust you more than I trust anyone.
Tea: That's not saying much. You don't trust anyone.
Todd: I trust you.
Tea: You don't. You never have.
[Todd leans his face closer to hers and lowers his voice.]
Todd: What do I have to do to prove that I trust you?
Tea: You can't. It's too late. You need to leave.
Todd: I'm not going anywhere while you need me.
Tea: You always leave when I need you.
Todd: Not this time.
Tea: Every time. You'll do it again.
[Todd turns and sits on the edge of her bed. He pulls his shoes off and tosses them onto the floor. He then surprises Tea by pulling off his shirt. He quickly turns back toward her and positions his body next to hers. He sits up for a moment and reaches for blankets at the foot of the bed. He pulls them up and covers only the lower portion of their bodies.]
Todd: Del's coming in the morning, right?
Tea: Yes.
Todd: Good! I want to give him a proper send-off.
Tea: And, you think baring your chest will accomplish that?
Todd: Yep.
Tea: What is this? Your way of marking your territory? Because, this competitiveness you seem to feel towards him is ridiculous. He's my brother, you're my...
Todd: Go on.
Tea: We should get some sleep. You have many questions you'll need to provide answers for if you expect a future with me beyond morning.
Todd: Please! We both know you have no intention of throwing me out of your bed...ever. Speaking of sex... I need to know what's okay, and what isn't.
Tea: I'll have you talk to my doctor. You can have a detailed discussion with her.
Todd: You want me to talk to a chick about pounding you into the mattress?
Tea: If you can discuss our sex life with my brother, you can discuss it, in graphic detail, with my female doctor.
Todd: She's probably a busy chick. Between taking her orders from the male doctors around here and getting her nails done, she probably won't have time for me. You can tell me everything I need to know.
Tea: I'm not ready. That's what you need to know, but refuse to listen to.
Todd: I won't force you. You know that. I won't pretend that you're not still a really hot babe, either. Right now, just tell me if it's okay for you to be wrapped around me, like you always liked.
Tea: You always hated that. At least, you said you did.
Todd: I'm willing to put myself through it, to cheer you up.
Tea: You can position me against you, but only if you'll answer some of my questions.
Todd: I get to choose which ones?
Tea: I'll ask, you'll answer.
[Facing Tea, Todd reaches under the blankets and places his hand against her side. He slides his hand down her side and over her buttocks and gently pulls her leg between his legs. He then slides one arm underneath her body as his other arm pulls her body towards him, until he is lying on his back and her body is pressed intimately against his side, her head resting on his chest.]
Todd: Is this okay?
Tea: I didn't hear anything snap.
Todd (concerned): Do you think I hurt you?
Tea: This is fine. I'm not as fragile as that wheelchair makes me look.
Todd: I don't want to hurt you.
Tea: I can spend the night against you, the way we both like.
Todd: I only put up with sleeping this way because you seemed to like it.
Tea: Let's stop the games.
Todd: What games?
Tea: Preferably, all of them.
Todd: If you don't want to play games anymore go ahead and stop.
Tea: You're the one who is playing games.
Todd: Trying to push me away when you want me to stay isn't playing games?
Tea: That's different.
Todd: Because it's your games that you're playing with me.
Tea: Exactly!
Todd: You keep yours, I'll keep mine.
Tea: We both should stop.
Todd: So, you won't pretend to push me away anymore?
Tea: I'll try not to.
