Home Sweet Home

You have a new home? Great, now the real fun begins!
We bought our house a few years out of college. We were young and broke, and the house was completely original and full of forty year old dust. With a little creativity and a lot of hard work from our families and friends, we now have the home of our dreams. Take a look at our before and after pictures, and hopefully you will get some ideas.

Some Project Ideas

We painted our old front door and after we replaced the glass I broke we covered it with a decorative film. It was cheaper than buying frosted glass, and it is energy efficent. It looks like a brand new door...almost

As a new homeowner I was not above a little trash picking, I found two mismatched end tables and made them my own with a little paint and scrapbook paper.

The wallpaper we liked for the master bedroom was a little too expensive, so I painted some simple flowers all over the walls. It still makes me smile each day.

One thing I was not prepared for was the price of curtains! But never fear, I picked up cheap canvas curtains and applied fabric to the bottom for a custom look. One of a kind and affordable, what could be better?

These curtains are wholesale fabric clipped to a tension wire that I found at Ikea for three dollars. No sewing involved!

I wrapped canvases with the left over fabric from the curtains for instant art.

I added a little extra personality to an antique dining set by recovering the chairs with a modern fabric.

We found an old cedar chest in the garage; with the addition of a few throw pillows, we have an instant reading nook.
