Prayers For Priests

These are some favorite prayers for priests and even a sonnet for priests!

Prayer For Priests

O my Jesus, I beg you on behalf of the whole church; Grant it love and the light of Your Spirit, and give power to the words of priests so that hardened hearts might be brought to repentence and return to you, O Lord. Lord, give us holy priests; You yourself maintain them in holiness. O Divine and Great High Priest, may the power of Your mercy accompany them everywhere and protect them from the devil's traps and snares which are continuously being set for the souls of priests. May the power of Your mercy, O Lord, shatter and bring to naught all that might tarnish the sanctity of priests, for You can do all things.

-Blessed Maria Faustina Kowalska of the Blessed Sacrament

Prayer For Priests

-by Saint Catherine Of Siena

I beseech You, direct the hearts and wills of the servants of Your Bride, the Holy Church, unto yourself so that they may follow the poor, bleeding, humble, and gentle Lamb of God on the way of the Cross. Make them angels in the shape of men, for after all, they have to administer and distribute the Body & Blood of your Only Begotten Son! Amen!

Prayer For Priests

Keep them, I pray Thee dear Lord.
Keep them, for they are thine ...
These priests whose lives burn out before
Thy consecrated shrine
Keep them, for they are in the world,
Though from the world apart.
When earthly treasurest tempt, allure,
Shelter them in Thy Heart
Keep them and comfort them
In hours of loneliness and pain,
When all their life of sacrifice
For souls seems but in vain.
Keep them and remember, Lord
That they have none but Thee
They have only human hearts,
With human frailty.
Keep them as spotless as the Host,
That daily they caress;
Their every thought and word and deed,
May you deign, dear Lord. To bless.

Prayer For Priests

O Jesus, our great High Priest, hear my humble prayers on behalf of your priests. Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope and a burning love which will ever increase in the course of their priestly life.

In their loneliness, comfort them. In their sorrows, strengthen them. In their frustrations, point out to them that it is through suffering that the soul is purified, and show them that they are needed by the Church; they are needed by souls; they are needed for the work of redemption.

O loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests, take to your heart your sons who are close to you because of their priestly ordination and because of the power which they have received to carry on the work of Christ in a world which needs them so much. Be their comfort, be their joy, be their strength, and especially help them to live and to defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy.

A PRAYER FOR PRIESTS

O Jesus, Eternal Priest, keep all Thy priests within the shelter of Thy Sacred Heart, where none may harm them. Keep unstained their anointed hands which daily touch Thy Sacred Body. Keep unsullied their lips purpled with Thy Precious Blood. Keep pure and unearthly their hearts sealed with the sublime marks of Thy glorious priesthood. Let Thy holy love surround them and shield them from the world’s contagion. Bless their labors with abundant fruit, and may the souls to whom they have ministered be here below their joy and consolation and in Heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen O Mary, Queen of the clergy, pray for us; obtain for us a number of holy priests.

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS: O, Jesus, I pray for Your faithful and fervent priests; for Your unfaithful and tepid priests; for Your priests living at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for Your tempted priests; for Your young priests; for Your dying priests; for the souls of Your priests in Purgatory. Above all, I commend to You the priests dearest to me: the priest who baptised me; the priest who confirmed me; those priests who have absolved me from my sins; those priests at whose Masses I assisted, and who gave me Your Most Precious Body and Blood in Holy Communion; those priests who taught and instructed me; and those priests who have helped me in any way. O, Jesus, keep them all close to Your Dearest Heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity.

PRAYER POEM FOR PRIESTS: Keep them, I pray Thee, Dearest Lord; keep them, for they are Thine. Thy priests whose lives burn out before Thy consecrated shrine. Yet, they have only human hearts, with human frailty. Keep them as spotless as the Host that daily they caress. Their every thought, word, and deed, deign, Dearest Lord, to bless. A SONNET (for priests)

On the way up Mount Carmel, a journey quite far now, you're called to the order of priest
Call the saints and the sinners, in God's eyes, all winners, to sit at the table and feast.
With Elijah and Mary, your guides never erring, let all souls in Carmel rejoice
For on Earth here below, like Elisha of Old, now the mantle is given new voice.
The Interior Castle, through snakes and such hassles, its mansions you've dared to explore
To arrive at the Center, with help from your Mentor, the Christ within whom you adore.
Through the dark nights you handled, though feeling abandoned, the candle of Love's living flame
With her burning detachments, in Love, She'll examine, as ev'ning of life claims your name.
Oozing love from the Heart of our Church, you now start your vocation ordained from Above.
With the eyes of a child, smelling roses strewn wild, you'll proclaim, "God is Mercy and Love!"
Holding fast to Saint Albert, his Rule as your standard, you'll put on the armor of light
And in cell, without word, keep the Law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.
Ah, the Carmelite mystic!! Sees everything Christic!! The summit you've finally attained!
Now, come down off the mountain, share your heavenly fountain, with all who are spiritually drained.
