So she was fed in a tube in her nose three times daily, she was on medication that went through a porta caf (a small opening that a needle can inject medicine into) next to her collar bone, and she was happy at her new school. It was now April, the third to be exact. Her school was for special kids, but she didn't consider herself special enough to attend it. The reason she couldn't attend public school, was because of her medical problems, and because she was from Egypt and new to America. School started at eight am for her, and got out at one pm. She was picked up by bus and dropped off by bus. When she was dropped off that day, April third, things were different. By the smell in the air, she could already tell. When she got inside, her parents and Brian were talking. Why was he home early? He didn't get out until three pm. Was he in trouble? He never got in trouble. "Hey honey, do you have any homework?" Jackie asked, and hugged the child. She nodded, meaning yes. "Well why don't you head on up to your room to do it?" Jafari gestured to Brian, and Jackie knew what she meant, "He's not in trouble, we'll talk about this later, okay sweetie?" Jafari nodded, but dragged herself to her room. Brian couldn't help but chuckle, though she didn't talk, she had quite a personality. At the top of the staircase she waved to him. He waved back and grinned like an idiot. When she went to her room she didn't do her homework right away. She never did. She always did it after dinner or in the morning. She instead layed on Brian's bed and played his gameboy. She loved his bed, it seemed so much better than hers (which she no longer slept in). Instead, she slept in his bed with him at night, for some reason she felt safer that way. They'd become very close, and if he ever left she would be emotionally wrecked. She confided all secrets in him, even if she didn't talk. She hung out with him, played with him, did homework with him, they were almost like peanut butter and jelly.
That night, Jafari left the room to take her bath, and when she came back Brian was packing. She ran over to him and shut the suit case, ice blue eyes burning into him. "Hey Tommy." he greeted. He now called her Tommy, since she acted so much like a tomboy. It was a cute nickname, but she was in no mood for cute at the moment. "Sit down." he said. She sat on his lap as he leaned back on the head board of the bed. "Now you know I'm a singer. Well Kevin got into a new music group, he wants me to join them. He said the group is really promising. But it's in Florida. I have to go down there, basically move down there into Kev's house." he started. She gripped his shoulders and stared into his eyes, and she knew he wasn't lying. When the tears began to fall down her face, he felt horrible. "But, please listen to me Tommy. Shhh, it's okay, listen. Mommy and Daddy say that you might be able to move with me. At your check up tommorow they will ask the doctor. If she thinks it's okay, we'll locate you a school in Florida, or a tutor, and you can come with me. They think you're better off with me, because we get along the best. Is that okay?" he asked. She nodded and buried her face in his chest. He chuckled lightly and kissed her forehead. "See, if you move with me, you'll be stuck living with two guys..." he smiled and she shrugged. "But it's a really serious matter, I might be working alot, and you'd have to come with me. Plus, you still have school and your medical problems." he said solemnly. She nodded eagerly and hugged him. The bond between them was really strong, and Brian sure didn't want to break it. Neither did his parents who had come up with the plan for her to stay with him. They knew she emotionally depended on him, and though it would be hard, she'd stay with him. It wasn't even the beginning yet, though....
