Visions, Apparitions, Locutions & Messages
Since the Ascension of Christ, many Heavenly beings have visited the earth to convey messages. Most common among them are the visions of Mary and others of Jesus and a few Angels. Before the 20th Century; the most evil century ever, there were many visitations and revelations from heaven. After the 20th century there were numerous visions and visitations from the Blessed Virgin the famous visions are given below.
What Exactly is a Vision?
A vision is a scene seen by a human being or a group of human beings. This scene is generated in 3 dimensional space, very often the apparition is see-through and not solid at other times the apparitions are rock-solid and life like. Human beings can sense only that which can be perceived by the five senses that means if a thing cannot be felt with the touch, smelt, seen, heard or tasted then it does not exist. However there are other dimensions that exist that cannot be perceived and it is only when the veil is withdrawn in certain situations that we can see the supernatural or other dimensions. Essentially it means converting a unperceivable dimension into a dimension that can be perceived with the five senses. Sometimes visions are directly interfaced into the brain and one sees but not outside the head.
What is a locution?
A Vision is seen by the eyes and heard by the ears. In a locution the visual aspect is missing and one only hears the voice. One should proceed with extreme caution when judging such locutions because the Devil's main forte is whispering in the ears. One accepted locution of this century is the locution of the Blessed Virgin to Don Stefano Gobbi.
Is the Devil capable of producing visions and locutions?
Yes, since Satan was a Seraphim; an angel of the highest order he has retained quite a bit of knowledge to know how to produce visions and locutions. There are various incidents in the history of the church where the Devil has visually tempted the saints and others, however not many visions are Satanic.
Is there any way of knowing a true vision from a false one?
Unfortunately no, however there are some guidelines that may help to guide the pilgrim. The first being that the vision should adhere vehemently to the Deposit of the faith and not teach anything against or detrimental to the faith. The second is that it should not be against Mary or any saint. It should not contradict the teachings of Christ or the Ten Commandments The main function of a vision is to warn of impending danger and mass apostasy. All contemporary visions implore us to say the Rosary which is a common thread running through all visions.
