My Life

Hi and thank you for visiting me.

I was born in the bay area of California.
My dad was working in the shipyards in Richmond, California.
When the shipyard closed we moved to Kern County, California.
The oldest of my 2 sisters was born there.
We moved to Rawlins, Wyoming in late 1946.
My dad was burned in a fire and spent several months recovering.
He could no longer take the cold climate of Wyoming
and we moved back to Kern County, California.
I attended school until I graduated from high school.
My brother and the younger of my two sisters were born.

With the exception of that short time in Wyoming,
I have lived in California all my life.

I worked on farms, where we grew
potatos, onions, cotton, alfalfa hay and several other crops.
I worked in the hay where I mowed and raked the hay.
I had several hounds and did a lot of hunting.

I met and later married LadyELM.

We have two children and have 5 grandchildren.
After we married I worked in the Gypsum Mines.
There I learned how to operate a dozer and jack hammer.
Also ran the mill where the gypsum was ground into powder.
Helping blast was a real kick also.
We moved to Contra Costa County, in the bay area and I went to work for the Shell Oil Refinery.

We lived in Contra Costa County for about three years then moved back to Kern County.
I worked for an insurance company at that time.
I went back to work on the farm until we moved back to Contra Costa County.
I worked on production lines for Bishop Weiscarver, making bread trays and safety stays.
Later I worked on a production line for Continental Can making fiber drums,
until I went to work for the Fire Department.
I had worked as a reserve firefighter four years, prior to being hired full time.
I worked ten years as a firefighter then promoted to inspector.
I worked as an inspector doing code enforcement and fire investigation until my retirement.

We always talked about and worked hard for a place in the mountains and finally it came to pass.
We bought five acres and built our home.

Now that I am retired, I am right at home living where I want to be and watching the trees grow.
And of course working on my homepage.
