The Sixth Sense

Apparently there is a note at the start of the movie asking viewers not to give away the ending to other people. It was in Japanese at the theatre, but as you hopefully know by now gentle reader, I don't like to give away things like that anyway!

Bruce Willis plays a psychiatrist who is trying to help a boy. The boy is troubled but won't say by what. Willis must break through the barriers that the boy has put up to protect his mother and himself.

The boy has the ability to see ghosts, but has learnt that it doesn't pay to tell people. Bruce must help the boy and try to save his own marriage, which has faltered since he was attacked by a former patient a year ago. He very nearly gives up, but somehow the doctor wins over the husband.

Should you see this film? Well, it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, in fact it was quite low key. There was a touch of violence, especially at the beginning, and a few, very few gory scenes, so I say sure. It's a different Bruce Willis, not the usual action hero stuff he's famous for, so give it a try. It's more of a cerebral scare than a splatterfest.

On a scale of 5 stars, I give it ***
