Hot and sunny.
Today was an amazingly good day! I did not expect it to be, but it was!
We stayed up way too late last night. We watched Memoirs of a Geisha on WOWOW, and didn't get to bed until 4:30 or so! I slept late, but Fumihiko was gone when I made a bathroom trip at 7:00 am.
I slept in until a bit before 12, then got up and showered. Fumihiko was playing games on his computer. After I got dressed, we went out for dinner. We tried a new place for us, it's behind the souvenir shop near Tsuruoka Park. It was ....okay. I enjoyed most of it. We both had steak, but it was very very salty. We expected just a bit more I think. Fumihiko ate his dessert first, and said it was a jelly/pudding mix and was so so. I tried it, not thinking I'd eat it all. Mine tasted like coffee and was really good.
After we left the restaurant we went to visit the Chidokan Museum. It was nice, except just after we went in a tour group of Japanese people came in. One of the men did something really dumb. He yelled out at me, "Hello. Nice to meet you!" Why on earth? I thought that was something that only children did. We did enjoy the Chidokan. Surprisingly, Fumihiko had never been there before, and I've been there at least twice before. The Chidokan was an old Samurai School, so it has a few interesting things around. It was nice going with Fumihiko as he could explain what some of the things were! We hiked over to the Taihokan afterwards. The Taihokan was an early Western Style building and used to be Tsuruoka's public library. Now it has a lot of memorabilia of local famous people or people who had some connection to Tsuruoka. It was okay. It was nice to be out and about in Tsuruoka, and not spending any money.
We had a glass of iced cappucino later, then went to Marica. It's closing at the end of next month and I wanted to visit my favourite shop there. I wasn't able to buy too much, but I got some more yuzu salt. That stuff is good. Then, we went over to Yamaya, so that I could get more western style mayonaise. We got a few other things too.
We came home with our shopping, and I tried to do something interesting. I made ice cream...in a plastic bag. I'm planning to do it at the barbecue (don't tell anyone) and I wanted to have a dry run. It was fine. The ice cream was pretty good.
Fumihiko went out to take care of his dog. I did some computer stuff, then when hubby came home we had some private time.
We went out for dinner to the Evil Place. It wasn't bad tonight though, but I did eat too much. Sigh. It does seem to be cleaner than it used to be, and I think the meat isn't as disgusting as it used to be.
We came home and watched Derailed on WOWOW. It was a movie with Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston. It was much different than what I thought it would be. I got quite uncomfortable in a few parts, and considered turning it off. I stuck with it, and think it was quite a good movie overall. Ghost of Mars started after that, but I didn't want to watch it. I wasn't in the right mood for that kind of film.
That's about it for me. I've been watching or listening to some podcasts tonight. Mostly ones from CBC. They are surprisingly good. It could just be that I'm desperate for any type of Canadian content.
Anyway, I have to go to bed...I do want to run a few errands tomorrow, and there may be time for a cappucino or something...hopefully. Gotta go. Night night.
