Cloudy day, rainy in the morning.
I slept in quite late this morning. I did plan to get up, and did, but as baseball was on the telly and I was tired, I went back to sleep. Or tried to. About 10 minutes after I went back to bed, the doorbell rang. I checked the monitor and I saw an older lady out there. However, she was wearing a hat pulled down fairly low and a mask, like people do for colds here. I was wondering what on earth she wanted. She had no clipboard, no package for me. I couldn't see her face. Was this hubby's mother finally discovering where we live? I had no idea. She leaned on the doorbell a couple more times and then tried the door handle! What on *earth*? (substitute stronger words if the mood suits you-it did me!) Thank goodness hubby had locked the door this morning. I don't think this little old lady would have liked the reaction she'd have gotten if she'd come into my apartment!
I slept a bit, then got up later. When I did I showered, drank coffee and did email. Then, even though it was getting later and the weather was still a bit cloudy outside, I went out for an adventure!
I biked over to Ginza dori, the old shopping area of Tsuruoka. I was a bit disappointed to find that most of the nice shops along Ginza have closed. I don't know if it was because today was Monday, or they are permanently closed. It was a sad street to bike down. In yester-year, I couldn't really bike down the road, it was too busy with pedestrians and other bike riders. Sigh. I did make a few stops though. I went to the packaging/crafts store and looked at stamps. I bought some fancy paper for my computer. If I ever write letters I'll use it. I went into Kettle One, the gorgeous kitchen goods store and drooled over a lovely German frypan. It was a mere 6000 yen, so I put it back. I went into a nice stationary store and found some green whiteboard markers, so I got one. Just stuff. Sort of supporting my local merchants. That kind of thing. Parking on that street is really bad, so riding a bike is the best way to go there.
I went by my school's bank and deposited some money, then headed off to the mall. When I got there I decided to eat something, so I went to the cafe upstairs. I had tuna salad and a cheese-sausage fry thingy. It was good, if a bit greasy. I thought about hitting the coffee shop for a cappucino, but didn't. I knew that hubby would be home soon, and I didn't want to rush through my expensive coffee break. I checked my cellphone and discovered he'd sent me a mail to say he was leaving work.
When I got home, I saw his car in the parking space. He'd made it before me. We had a nice reunion, and after a while went out for dinner. He needed a copy of one of my tax forms for his new office, so I got a bunch of my stuff together for the school. That way, I don't have to take it on my bike tomorrow. We had a nice dinner in Hana. I had roasted trout, and Fumihiko had a sashimi plate. We enjoyed our dinner. We headed off to the school. I couldn't find the paper that he wanted at first, but it showed up eventually. Yay.
We hit the grocery store on the way home. I decided to make tacos for dinner tomorrow night. I might do a bit of prep in the morning if I get up on time! We came home again, and I realized we'd forgotten to pay our phone bill---again! Fumihiko kept forgetting to take it somewhere to pay it. He took it then and there and I made coffee.
We ended up spending a quiet night at home watching CSI and then ER. ER was quite good tonight, and looks like there'll be a new character next week that will shake things up.
Anyway, that's it for me. I had a pretty good day off. I'm glad that I ventured out by myself. I really like shopping without hubby. He tends to overprotect me and drive me crazy, so it's nice to get out in public by myself!
Night night.
