February 11, 2006 - Saturday

Snowy and cold day.

A little bit different sort of a day. Fumihiko went out in the morning to get his haircut, while I went back to sleep. Or tried to. I got up finally and showered.

We went to the Daiichi Hotel for lunch. As usual, Fumihiko ran into former co-workers and present co-workers. I don't know how he manages to know so many people. It annoys the heck out of me!

After lunch we visited the dvd store and got Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I guess we'll watch that again fairly soon.

We drove to Spall, the big swimming pool next. It was really snowing hard. There were big fluffy flakes coming down everywhere.

We spent a couple of hours in Spall. It wasn't crowded for a change which was nice. We tried using our new goggles that we got last year (but never used), but I had a lot of trouble getting them to fit properly. Finally they were okay, but I got a ton of water up my nose, which was really uncomfortable. We hadn't discussed how long we were going to stay at the pool, so when the clock started to get round to the hour and a half mark I was a bit perturbed. Fumihiko gave no signs that he was tired or wanted to go. I on the other hand was a bit bored. We swam in the river course, we'd relaxed in the hot pools, we'd sat out of the water for a while, we'd got back into the hot pools. We had a coffee around the 2 hour mark and I told Fumihiko that I'd had enough. He was nice enough not to get mad, and so we left!

We went to Mikawa Mall to see if there was a good movie to see. We decided to go to Oliver Twist. Fumihiko's choice. I was a bit ambivalent. Part of me wanted to see Jarhead instead, but I really didn't need to see it either. We had an hour to wait before the movie, so we did a little shopping and then had coffee in Seattles Best Coffee. I had my usual cappuchino, Fumihiko had something that sounded divine, Raspberry Mocha Kiss....coffee, raspberry and chocolate. Yum. He said it was good.

I was pleasantly surprised by Oliver Twist. I didn't expect to enjoy it as sometimes Dickens can be so sad, but this was good. I've never read the book, so I don't know if they took liberties with it, but I thought it seemed very Dickensian. I thought the boy was quite good.

After the movie we came back to Tsuruoka and went to a yakiniku restaurant. We didn't go to our usual one, another one on the way into Tsuruoka. It was quite nice, but not as nice! We had some salad, some meat and a few veggies.

When we came home I washed our swimsuits and Fumihiko did some paperwork. We didn't watch any TV. Around midnight Fumihiko asked if I wanted to watch a movie, but I suggested that he get ready for bed! He has to work tomorrow.

Well, that's it for me. I had a pretty good day, but all that swimming has made me tired. Okay, I barely swam at all, but I did do a lot of moving around in the pool so I am a bit tired. Gotta go!

Night!

PS New to Flickr today are some pictures Fumihiko took of me in front of one of the snow mountains in our parking area. In one of them I've just sunk my foot into the soft snow! The mountains are smaller than they were before, as the rain yesterday shrunk them. Yikes!
