Meeting Others

My travels among 4 Africam parks gave me the opportunity to meet many chatters and staff of africam. I met the gang of 30 at the party at Essies, but I spent time with others along the way. The first park I was at was Kwa Maritane. Doribell, barbss and I had a room/chalet there for the weekend. After a drive we spent yacking and laughing very hard we got to Kwa. Having never been to a park in Africa I was chomping at the bit to get to the hide we all know so well. Dori and barbss were determined to torture me. After a quick coke, they take pity and let me head for the hide. I stay there all day, and the ladies spoil me by bringing snacks to me so I can stay in the hide all day. I saw eland, kudu, nyala among other things. I was in awe and the hide is so close!! I am dragged away to dinner LOL and spend the evening talking to dori and barbss. Sharing with them was very special and we all had a great time. The next day I was at the hide by 5am listening and learning the calls of so many beautiful birds and taking in the majestic mountain backgrounds. I am fetched for breakfast and shower, then Bushwacker and andi join us to host a self-drive around Kwa. Bushwacker was another cutie, any pics I have seen on the web dont do her justice. Her eagle eyes were awesome, she spotted game near and far on our drive. We saw tons of game tallest to smallest. At the site of some black eagles I realized seeing things on my computer screen I had no perspective, as these birds are HUGE! Among the many hilites were elephants right beside our cars, hippos out of the water about 20ft from us and oh yeah the rhinos we nearly ran over. With bushwacker, andi and barbss in the lead car, and Doribell and myself behind, bushwacker would spot something and motion us backwards to have a look at what she found. She stopped and gave what we thought was a wave to go backwards again, Doribell started backwards when we looked behind us!! There were 2 very large white rhino only about 8ft from our bumper, and we all know who woulda got the worst of that collision!! I spun and took some pictures. We drove to the top of a majestic lookout, about 1600meters high, overlooking a plain, and spotting game with binoculars. It was very beautiful! We drove down and made our way to the Bakubung lodge and had a few drinks before saying our goodbyes. All had a wondeful time. My last day In JHB Dori and I met bushwacker for lunch, it was nice to see her again and do a proper goodbye. Kwa Was Great! More African Tales
