Meeting Odie

I arrived at Sabi Sabi having been promised by Odie (Odielia)that she would be there to meet me. Shortly after I arrive and head for the buffet table Odie arrives to introduce herself and greet me. She promises to show me around and some web time to say hi to my friends. Odie really made my stay at Sabi Sabi a joy. She is very sweet and sooo weee and cute. We got along very well, and myself and a family from my drive got some special treatment. Odie took us out with her to the mobile camera, to show us how it worked and send the first of many pcitures of me over the world wide web(not sure it will ever be the same). We enjoy hearing the technical side of its workings. During our drive Odie demonstrates her great knowledge of flora and fawna, and of course the animals. We stop with her to view dwarf mongoose, and giraffe among other things. I am very new to it all so each siting is a thrill. Sharing with a chat/boma friend (until now) like Odie made it that much more fun. By day 2 I have run of Odie's office, and have been shown how to control the remote operation of the Sabi Mobile, and told to go ahead and adjust the picture if I see anything. I see a giraffe and zoom in nicely on it, sorta getting a charge out of knowing many virtual friends are watching. A day or 2 later after Carol and Tim arrive, Odie asks us if we would like to join her when she moves the mobile cams jeep to a lion siting from the believed abandoned leopard kill it is at. It was this operation that gave me a new appreciation for the work Odie does, after waiting for a ranger to drive the rescue vehicle, we all load up, with Odie in the trackers seat. We arrive at the spot where the mobile cam is, near a tree with a leopard kill in it. We pull up and just as Odie is about to hop down and get in the mobiles jeep, she spots the leopard at the base of the tree. She scoots back to the safety(?) of the trackers seat and waits till the leopard goes off. Cautiously Odie climbs in a back window, lets down the arieal, manuevers through the vehicle and starts the jeep. We follow closely behind , to the new site, a pride of lions. Odie set things up repeating the operation in reverse, slipping out the back window, and gingerly slipping onto our hood, making her way to the trackes seat. Just as she reaches us the lions move out of range. Back at it, arial down, move the jeep, do it all again get half way out and...U guessed they move again. All the while Carol and I are taking pictures of both Odie and the lions. Poor Odie got little more then grief for her efforts as the lions just kept moving . The camera never did start transmitting, despite Odies best efforts. I can tell U I really loved Odie she was fantastic and my stay wouldnt have been the same if I hadnt met her. She was cute and sweet and smart and very dedicated to getting all of us the best pictures she can. Thanks again Odie, meeting U was the best!More Adventures Or Frank's Place Main
