Bio

Kramer, Michael Richards, a two-time Emmy winner (Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series) for his performance as off-the-wall Kramer on "Seinfeld," grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles and earned a degree in theater from the California Institute of the Arts. He got his start performing on stage and upon graduating, appeared in several productions with the San Diego Repertory Company. With a lifelong interest in comedy, Richards decided to perform stand-up routines in 1979, and appeared nightly for nine months at such Hollywood venues as The Comedy Store and The Improvisation until Billy Crystal gave him his first "paying job," on "The Billy Crystal Special." He spent the next two-and-a-half years on the late-night comedy series "Fridays." He has also appeared in a variety of feature film comedies, including "Coneheads," "So I Married An Axe Murderer" and "Airheads." He co-stared with John Ritter in the motion picture "Problem Child" and has appeared in "UHF," "Whoops," "Apocalypse," Transylvania 6-500" and "Young Doctors in Love." Recently he completed production on "Unstrung Heroes," a feature film directed by Diane Keaton. His TV credits include a regular role on "Marblehead Manor," guest appearances on "The Larry Sanders Show," "Bob Hope: The First 90 Years," "St. Elsewhere," "Miami Vice," "Hill Street Blues," "Cheers," "Night Court," "It's a Living," "Sidekicks," "Scarecrow and Mrs. King" and the mini-series "Fresno."
