This memories page is dedicated to my husband Herb Herb was born in Salina, Kansas. His father was the county Sheriff and and his mother was the cook, housekeeper and laundress for inmates in the jail.. According to what I have been told, there were never very many inmates so most of the time all of the above duties were just for the family He had a sister, Edna, now also deceased.
Herb, myself and our Daughter Le-etta I met Herb at the local radio station in our small town while working part time during the summer and holidays and during my senior year in high school. It really wasn't love at first sight but did grow into that after I had been in college for a year. Herb, all of his adult life had been either a writer or an announcer in radio stations. When we got married he was working in the Los Angeles area as a writer so that is how I was introduced to BIG CITY LIFE!! Herb was a talented writer but when we found out our daughter was on the way, he had to supplement his writing with another job with the Automobile Club of Southern California. (Nah, he didn't drive a tow truck !!)
During our years together we had a lovely daughter, Le-etta Fay. Yes, daddy spoiled her rotten (of course, I didn't). She was the apple of his eye and his death due to his one and only heart attack really tossed her for a loop. Her daddy would not be there for her any more and somehow Mom as a substitute did not cut the mustard. After many years of struggle and "growing up" my wonderful daughter is my Angel here on earth. I am proud to say she and my son-in-law, Bob, have 6 years in AA. Bob is also my Angel here on earth. I know Herb is proud because he also had several years in AA.
Herb and Le-etta At the time of Herb's death, he was continuing his writing but in the capacity of a Public Relations Manager for a graphics art company here in the San Fernando Valley. Le-etta takes after her father in lots of ways - one of which is her ability to express herself through the written word. She really didn't know she had this talent until she "found herself" after "growing up"!!
God Grant me the, Serenity to accept the, Things I cannot change, the Courage to change the Things I can, and the Wisdom to know the Difference.
